No, you're wrong.

It's unconfirmed at this point.

Multiple sources are reporting. The one person you DON'T want to listen to is Les Miles. He's not going to tell you anything.

Did you even bother reading the post?

I read the whole post, officially LSU cannot comment officially on suspensions for drug related offenses because of HIPAA.

Again refer to my previous post there is a difference between on and off the record confirmations.

Can media get things wrong sure they can. Do they at times report things from sources that turn out to be bad absolutely.

But off the record sourcing is a staple of media reporting and has been since Watergate.

There is a difference between me saying I know the dude who cuts JJ's hair and he told me that 3 players are suspended for positive drug test and running to the board an posting it

AND

A reporter who talked to a player or someone in the football program who tells them the issue but refuses to let the reporter use his name.

That is not rumor. It is a legitimate report sourced from someone in the football program with knowledge of the situation.

You are way off base.

but why hypothesize on whether it was ganja or cocaine!
Bobby Hebert was on radio yesterday reporting it was ganja...he has a son on the team, the son likely told him what happened, Hebert opened his mouth. Connect the dots. You could argue that they don't know (and maybe they don't) but the fact that they've already gone public with their thoughts (along with tons of other media) is what's fueling the speculation, not posters on Tiger Rant.

FROM Rabalais

Three players for the No. 1-ranked LSU football team — cornerbacks Tyrann Mathieu and Tharold Simon and running back Spencer Ware — have been suspended for violating team rules for Saturday’s game against No. 19 Auburn, a source familiar with the situation said Wednesday.

Again you people are insane if you think media especially local media is gonna run with this if they don't have a source.

And you're insane if you don't think the media would use a homeless guy from Seattle as their source. They don't care, they just want to be the first to get it out there.

What are the possible ways one could violate the Drug Policy. Either A) fail a drug a test given by the NCAA, SEC or LSU. B) Be caught actually doing drugs. Either way what happened happened, its over, deal with it, lets move forward.

LOL Rabalais and the local guys were not first. The Reveille was.

The local guys worked Bonnette and players they know, trainers, etc and then wrote stories, most did not mention the positive drug tests.

This is not and has not been about being first. It's about getting it right and guys like Rabalais, man he is not GG, he has always been fair to LSU.

What's weird is that the players have basically admitted something happened, but Les Miles simply refuses to clean his hands of it with the media and fans.

DO you people have any idea how the media works? Do you really think every report has an on the record source?

It has to if it affects people's lives - especially students who are beginning their lives. You are looking at it as a loss of CB for your team but the albatross you are forcing around their necksby the various accusations are going to stay regardless of whether it is true or not.

The media thrives on this nowadays (they rush to judgement and play with words to imply fault without obvious libel) - it is called sensationalism and it lasts only for a few days but it gives the eyeballs but at a horrendous cost to the poor target.

Is the opinion on a fricking internet forum or by crappy media that important to be heard and published that you don't care if it could possibly ruin someone's lives and or career!

We can go around and around on this.

But here are the facts.

You claim that the Rant policy was violated by allowing the posts that link or comment on published media reports because it is rumor.

You are wrong. The accepted media practice for nearly 40 years has been to use off the record sources as legitimate means of reporting. You may disagree with that but it is the accepted practice by the media.

These reports that include off the record confirmations are not and cannot be considered "rumor". They just are not regardless of your opinion.

And we are not talking about bloggers or Bleacher Report stuff where anyone with a pc can post and be a "reporter" we are talking paid media. Media that must source info in order to get published.

I am not happy when LSU players are suspended, get in fights or fail drug tests. I hate it. I wish that the media would not report on it and wish that message boards would run go nuts when they do.

But my personal feeling and belief is not relevant, what is relevant is what is or is not accepted media practice of reporting and what is or is not following the rules of this site in regard to rumors.

Chicken followed the rules of the site to the letter.

Now we can discuss media ethics and what should or should not be accepted practice, but your claim that the board's rules have not been followed is by any reasonable standard not accurate.
