I heard they were bought out by Lids? Does anyone know the backstory? I assume that Tigermainia was locally owned? I remember at one time there were 4 or 5 locations. The fact that these stores are gone is a absolute shame for LSU and the city of Baton Rouge.
Definitely stinks for a LSU fan, not much to choose from anymore!

Tigermania WAS locally owned. I met the owner about 20 years ago. I’m not sure what happened to them other than this. The one by Drusilla shut down. The one in the mall relocated to the newer outside area across from the Apple Store then closed shortly thereafter. I may be wrong. Someone who knows more, feel free to correct me.

The black and gold/purple and gold store on Siegen is pretty cool. Alumni Hall in Perkins Rowe is incredible. There are two places in the mall that sell tons of LSU gear that ARE run by LIDS. The collegiate one is downstairs near Dillard’s.

It’s really not a shame for the city- what a dumb thing to say. Alumni Hall, Purple/Gold on Seigen, Bengals and Bandits, hell even Academy has a ton of LSU shite to buy. You can find it anywhere.

I believe it's hard when you have a brick and mortar location these days. Online challenged it and Covid really took it to a new level. I loved those stores for a long time. Specifically the drusilla location. I'd imagine rent and CAM charges in a development across from the Apple store requires a lot of t-shirt sales. More like the new reality. Make them in a cheap warehouse and ship them. Saves a ton of overhead.

Any time a locally-owned business gets bought out by a chain or goes under is a bad thing.

I believe these are the last two local shops dedicated solely to selling LSU merchandise.

The fact that you’re just now wondering what happened to them tells the story. They’ve been shutdown for awhile.
