I was one of those. We were hold overs from the Pistol Pete days. Gave up the tickets in 1988, and picked up LSU baseball tickets. Haven't been to a basketball game since.

Because he was a giant dick with exactly no personality

Maybe. But the years he was winning. People came out of the woodwork. I remember the year with Stromile and Jabari watching early games with a spares crowd to a packed house once SEC play started after our big win over OSU in nola.

Winning is all that matters.

Johnny is on his way! Tigers have been pleasant surprise! You will see larger crowds by the end of year which will be an amazing turn around.

LSU does a really poor job of letting students, faculty, and staff know of sporting events and promoting events to general public.

LSU could offer free tickets to part time students, faculty, and staff to help boost attendance.

The serious answer is to be a top 5 team nationally.

The vast majority of LSU "fans" are frontrunners, who buy tickets only because there is frick else to do in Baton Rouge (or the vast majority of South LA outside of NOLA.)

They want to be "seen" at the big events, and brag about "being at the game." That's why they leave in the third quarter of the football games. It's why they don't show up for basketball. It's why the vast majority of baseball games (aside from regionals and the season opener) are often half full.

Everybody wants TICKETS. Few have an actual desire to actually attend games.

Winning for a season or two with an exciting brand of basketball should do it. You aren't going to get that this year, because no one knows about us yet, but we should start getting pretty good crowds next year

Yeah last nights attendance was horrible! It was sad to see on TV. Seaton Hall would have folded earlier in the game if the full crowd was rockin the PMAC.

To the students that are saying LSU does a horrible job promoting stuff....I just find that hard to beleive. I always knew when something was going on while I was there. Does no one bother to read the Reveille anymore? Too busy with iphones?

I know it was before finals so I don't blame the students here a bit. FWIW. It was the rest of the stadium that was empty.

When the football team sucked the attendance suffered.

DD killed off a lot of his fans towards the end of his reign by stubbornly hanging on to the best seats in the house..most of which were empty by then...and demanding new season ticket holders pay the "surcharge" for premium seats. He had full control of those seats. Several of my friends were big time basketball fans but were stuck sitting at the top of the PMAC.Seeing all those empty seats, they tried for several yrs to improve their location but were rebuffed. They finally dropped out as season ticket holders & started attending on the good games. JB was an arse & drove fans away. TR was no better, plus he played a boring style of game. He quit going to the Sixth Man Club dinner pre game & started sending an assistant coach instead. JJ has a lot of work to do to clean up the mess those 3 created.

The first couple of years he was coaching, with very few fans in attendance, my wife & I would sit directly behind the LSU bench.

I was shocked how often he cursed his players. I've never seen that much disrespect and wondered why any player would ever want to play for him.

He alienated me.

Hope and winning. Fans I think just want to see that LSU is serious about winning basketball. Once the wins start coming in (and it appears that is starting to happen) then fans will come back. I think when fans believe that the school is not serious about a sport they tend to follow along. But with the hiring of JJ who bleeds purple and gold, the uptick in recruiting from our own state and wins like last night, it won't be long before PMac is rocking again.

You post this a few times a year every year. It is a dumb idea and you should stop posting it. Lsu usually has $5 tickets to games. If faculty and staff wont go for $5, they probably wont go if it was free.

Actually, many of the geriatric fans and fortysomethings that are PMAC regulars, and dare say the diehards that have been season tix holders over the last few decades, are from the DB era.

IMHO, it's the under age 35 Louisianians, and BR resident grads of same age, Tier-1 Univ Texans with no sense of ties/history/lore, and other students from afar, that grew up in the Ritalin/Playstation, flatscreen tv, tv network game proliferation(when once there were fewer games televised), stadium seating movie theatres with DLP, Dolby Surround, WiFi, etc..eras

This is the truth. I'm 52 been a season ticket holder since the bldg opened. The 3500 regulars are all around my age or older. The youngsters who put so much time and energy into bitching and complaining on the internet have not taken the torch of supporting the program. If you can't see the new direction that JO JONES has us going and get on board,it will remain mediocre. Lets be honest Hoops has not been a part of these young republicans life since the big democrat blocked their set shot into their face in 8th grade gym class. This group has to make the commitment to come spend money and rectify the problem. I don't see it happening, if we can average 8-9K I will be happy.

We need to be a contender for a conference or a national title. We need to play a contender's schedule. Season tickets in the good seats are no longer a bargain. To get people to buy the seats and go to the games you must field a good team and play a schedule that will get you ready for the conference and post-season play.

Even if we can't win it all, we need to act like we can win it all. That is the best thing that Dale Brown did....He believed he could win it all.I don't think either of the last two coaches LSU had really believed that.

Pretty much, yes. Daddy Dale wasn't the best X&O coach, but he won and was excited to be here.

We finally have both of those qualities back now in the person of CJJ.

I never got the feeling that Brady really liked being here. And who knows what excites Trent?
