Go figure a guy on Johnny's staff was a better head coach than he is.

Is that Adolph K. Musselman's son?

Better than what we have now!

on paper it'd be a good hire. Will it re-ignite a stagnant and apathetic fan base? Nope.
but this program is so far down the shitter I doubt we could lure in that type of hire.

No. They need to clean house and not bring back anyone associated with any prior coach. Overhaul and complete culture change.

He obviously knows how to teach the game. I'd be a bit worried about recruiting and the fact that he is the definition of a "journeyman." He's been all over the place. If he had even just a little bit of success at LSU it's likely that he may leave ASAP.
I'm not saying LSU needs a "one of us" hire (God knows that hasn't worked out with Jones), but I rather see them get someone who be likely to stay both in the college game and at LSU if he had success. Yes, the Duke's, UCLA's, Kansas, UNC's will always be out there, but LSU isn't a bad "destination" spot if the program can win.

Kind of feel this way. If you go hire Musselman you admit you had a better assistant coach on staff than the head coach. We all saw how the Coach O hire was received. Not that I think he will be a failure, but, you cant just keep hiring assistants and always expect things to change. To me football culture wasn't horrible like basketball culture is. It's different, and we shouldnt want to keep any guys around that are associated with Jones.

Musselman didn't seem to have the impact many expected when he was here

Yes that's why i think we need to just go the up and comer mod range route and hope we strike gold. Starting to warm up to that cat from Furman.

We would be hiring our third former assistant instead of actually conducting a proper search.
Jones was a massive failure and should have never been hired.
O was not a popular hire mainly due to the "search process"
If Alleva hires another former assistant as HC then he clearly DGAF about finding good coaches, just convenient ones.

He got Johnny to the tournament. Herculean task given his utter lack of coaching ability. I'm all for it

Eric was looking to serve under head coaches to get a feel for the college game. He has Nevada at 17-4 right now. I'm all for it

If a former NBA head coach wants your job you give it to him.

apparently Johnny doesn't let his assistants do much, which to me is pretty shocking considering how inept he is

I'd like someone with some sustained success rather than just the guy who rides a hot team into the tourney, that seems to have failed more than its succeeded.

He was here for a year, our most successful. He's not exactly a JJ protege.

He was an NBA HC 15 years ago. And like I said, this entire program needs a complete overhaul.

Dont care, give me someone who has proven success even if it is at a midmajor.
Musselman has a ton of experience, he hasnt had any sustained success at any coaching stop and hasnt stayed more than 2 years anywhere.
