All undefeated. That is the KEY to getting into the BCSNC game. That is why I feel we should never agree to play tough OOC teams (ie Oregon next year and WV). It is hard enough to stay unbeaten in the SEC. Anyone agree? If we had played ark st and west ky instead of UNC and WV and we were undefeated right now, where would we be ranked? 1 or 2, I'd bet.

but we lost to Auburn so we would be in the same spot? Now if we had lost to an OCC then I would agree with your post

One of the reasons LSU is ranked high by computers (and to some extend by humans) is because LSU has played and beaten more ranked teams than anyone else in the BCS top 10. Hell, just being in the SEC almost guarantees having to play more ranked teams than anyone else in other conferences.

This post doesn't make any damn sense. We beat UNC and WVU big guy. Playing those teams is what's going to move us past those BYU's and TCU's in the end in the BCS too. What sorta hurts the SEC this year is a weak East, so the SEC champ doesn't really get a quality win this year. It doesn't matter this year b/c Auburn isn't going to have more than 1 loss anyway, and winning the SEC championship probably keeps them in the 2 spot an in the NC game.

When's the last time LSU went undefeated in conference. Not in the modern era.

Computers and voters like undefeated teams more. Most experts/voters on TV all say they would put undefeated TCU or Boise ahead of any one loss team. If Au slips up and OR doesn't, you can bookit OR vs TCU or Boise, cause they are undefeated!

PS: You gotta pull for Bama. You want teams ahead of you to LOSE so u can move up.

In theory it might sound good. But more often than not, the national championship game includes a team with a loss. A strong schedule, including OOC, helps in the ratings (as with this year). Oh, and one more thing--our last regular season OOC loss was in 2002 (or, to put it in sharper focus, we have won TWO BCS national championships since the last time we lost an OOC game during the regular season).

No because if they lose then we have no shot at a BCS game.
It also hurts our SOS.

Thanks for being a smartass though.

I told my father following the 2003 BCS championship that the BCS would eventually blow up because everyone would figure it out and there would be a hand full of undefeated teams each season vying for the top 2 spots.

It seems teams have gotten smart to the BCS and are doing like you said. Do whatever is necessary to go undefeated and take your chances. Look at the Big 10's OOC opponents as a whole. It is a joke, yet they are not being penalized. Add a few non-AQ schools to the mix. The result is a top 10 full of teams that have played less than a quarter of their games against ranked opponents.

I would like to see the BCS continue to add a few wrinkles to help prevent the current trend. How about saying to even be ranked in the BCS standings, a team must have a strength of schedule ranked above 50 (or some number)? If you are in a tough conference then you can play some OOC cupcakes. However, if you are in a weak conference, you better load up on some OOC powers.

I get your point, but also remember Virginia Tech in 2007. It goes both ways.

We need them to beat Bama and lose the SECCG to help our NC hopes.

If you don't think that's possible then we need them to win out and go to the NC so we can go to the sugar.

Quit using the SOS excuse. Oregon and Boise are Tied at fricking 87th while ours is 8th. Where are we ranked? Behind them. Why? They are undefeated, again the KEY. Au SOS is 12th, why the hell are they ranked below OR? SOS is BS in my opinion.

PS: Thank you Terry the Tiger.

I hate the pussy assed scheduling regimen.

As a fan, I much prefer us to play schools like NC and WVU instead of UAb, Citadel, or Miami of Ohio.

Besides, we didn't lose OOC. We lost to Auburn.

In a typical season, a one loss team can win the SECW. We even won one with three conference losses.

This isn't a typical year and its sad that our best season since 2003 is going to be wasted: ie we have little or no chance at the NCG. :(

Keep playing the tough OOC schedule. In a close race it gives us the edge IMO FWIW YMMV

So the entire point you are trying to make is that we need to go undefeated?

If Miles had thought of that earlier in the season, damn. We could have avoided that loss
