Glass bottles can't be visible. Everything has to be in a cup. Ice chests under tables. Too many rules, you are wasting your time.

I've also heard you can't cook there, so basically you're stuck eating Walmart finger sandwiches and chicken tenders.

I need someone to remind me why this place is always mentioned in the same tailgating category as LSU? Can't be all because of chandeliers and flower arrangements, can it?

You can't have an open flame. So propane and charcoal grills are out. You can prep food ahead of time and use warming trays to keep it hot.

When you get out here you'll understand why. Basically the entire campus worth of tailgating is crammed into an area roughly the size of the parade grounds. Tents are pretty much on top of each other, which would make it hard for emergency people to get somewhere if a fire broke out, and it would spread quickly. I believe that's the reason for no open flames.

The no visible glass thing is no big deal IMO. An actual stupid thing they do though is go around dumping unlocked ice chests while the game is happening, so make sure you finish what ever you brought before or get a lock for your ice chest.

A lot of people are going to shite on it because Ole Miss, but it's pretty fun and a definite change of pace from tailgating at LSU. If you try comparing the two, you'll be very disappointed because you're used to the LSU way. If you go in and open your mind to how they do it, it's a lot of fun.

Did anyone mention the hot girls all dressed up? Because the scenery is fantastic up there.

If you're drinking anything, just have it in a cup.. beer, whiskey, whatever. I drank everything and had it in a cup and nobody said a word to me.

The rule is actually more convuluted than you can ever imagine

Alcohol OVER 5% is allowed Meaning you can openly drink bourbon, vodka etc etc, but beer is not actually allowed so that must be put into a cup

quote:

5.Lafayette County is “dry” for beer and light wine (less than 5% alcohol by weight). Thus, distribution, possession, and consumption of beer and light wine is illegal in that portion of the University’s campus

Kegstands
Uh oh

University policy prohibits abusive drinking, drinking games, and mass or rapid consumption devices (kegs, funnels, shots, etc.).

vomit?
Stike three you are out!!!

Public intoxication will not be tolerated, and violators are subject to arrest

So nobody will say anything if you carry your ice chest around the whole time?

No. Like I said anything over 5% alcohol is perfectly legal. So put bourbon and wine on top and the beer on bottom in case they stop to check you. And if you are over 21 they will just tell you to please pour the beer in a cup. The cops dont really hastle bad at all in Oxford. Now Gainesville is a different story

Last time I went in 2009, my brother had an unopened case of beer in the bed of his truck at our friend's RV. Campus police pulled up on a golf cart and made us open every can of beer and pour them out. They have ridiculous rules.

Two years ago I watched cops make a man carrying a case of beer open every beer and pour it into the gutter. He was about 40.

Not even close. It was about 7 am too and we weren't even drinking yet. The LSU fans in the RV next to us were more pissed about it than we were. I was more shocked than anything.

Liquor is legal, beer is not but everybody drinks both. Keep it in a cup and dispose of cans. Also, don't leave your liquor on tables unattended, keep them in a cooler as in don't make it look like its an open bar.

If you plan on leaving a cooler behind during the game. it needs to be locked to keep the cops from searching it and drunk students from raiding it. A lock cable to a table is recommended also to keep it from walking off.

I've used charcoal grills many times in the Grove. I think of an open flame as a campfire. Propane is banned for obvious reasons.

Just tailgate like you have good sense and you will have a blast.
