Less than 5 percent. Three freshmen in the rotation and no clear cut 3rd baseman. Going to be some major growing pains.

Our coach has won his first and last NC . We may not make it to or out of a regional .

Probably zero. Faith in the players but not the coach.

this would be like UK not getting to the elite 8 since 2009.
Not it isn't, but thinking is hard

If we make it to Omaha, we'll have a much better chance at winning now that the ball has changed. A fluke like UCLA is less likely to occur when you even the playing field. Rosenblatt was fantastic and had a great feel. Unfortunately Omaha needed to build a new park and although nice, just hasn't turned out to be the equivalent of Rosenblatt.
The Omaha World Herald had a great article a few years ago about how the park was built. The direction is odd, the spacing between downtown buildings kills fly balls, etc. It has enabled one-dimensional (pitching) teams to win the title as the park cancels power and batting average. They were concerned because many fans complained the games were very boring.
Hopefully the games will no longer resemble a warning track, pop-fly competition...and actually be similar to the games played the remainder of the season. If we get there, I like our chances this time.

Actually pretty decent chances:
- The flat seam ball should work better towards PM's style of baseball versus small ball. Two years ago in Omaha, if we played with this ball we crush UCLA.
- The new ball will create a learning curve for all pitching staffs. This may offset any "youth" issue with our kids.
- We should be solid on defense. Our OF is wicked good and may be the best. They will steal hits from people, esp. Stevie!!!!
- 3rd needs filling but the talent is there so likely there will be no let down in our infield.
- Pap should be an upgrade at C
- Though our pitching staff is young, so are most other teams. Turnover is always high and we just added a lot of talent. Having Nola and Brossard back would be great but these new kids are very good and we've got great depth in the pen.
- Very good team speed, we may actually steal bases this year.
It is a new season filled with opportunity!! This is a very talented team and could make a serious run at the CWS or they could have injuries or not play up to potential and not even make a regional.
We haven't even played a game and the bashers are sticking their heads up. Sit back and enjoy the ride and I'll see you at Barrett's.
Our chance of winning a game at Omaha is as good as everybody else and better than most!!!
Play Ball!!!

150 wins in 3 seasons, one trip to Omaha, and zero wins. What does the team need to do different to stop the decline?

quote:i hate to say it but, mainieri's tenure is starting to be known more for houston and stony brook than a cws championship more than 5 years ago. i'm not a person who thinks the grass is greener on the other side but, it's time for coach to win some games in omaha. he's had plenty of time to be more impressive than this.
They wouldn't put up with that shite

Not sure but I expect it. We're LSU and it's college baseball.

There's no way I'm dumb enough to give a percentage in January.
I do like this team, I like the makeup, I like the group of veterans returning with the infusion of the best group of freshmen in the country.
I have a good feeling about this team, almost '08 esque. When they gel thinks will click.

I'd be thrilled to win a regional

I say IF we don't win a game in Omaha Paul should be fired. I'll never understand why the hell his sit isn't hot as hell. Same olé shite every year. Zero batting zero bunting zero base running and choking our asses off in the post season. The baseball mafia will crucify me but its the truth.

Depends if we lose in the SEC tourney. Cpm teams usually peak 2-3 weeks too early.

3 freshman starters and you are wondering if LSU wins a game?
enjoy the hoops season.
gonna be in a tournament. maybe the big dance, maybe the post season NIT.
