Check out the ESPN SportsNation Poll #15:

"What is your excitement level for No. 1 LSU vs. No. 2 Alabama?

LINK

On the map for the poll results, the entire western half of the U.S. is solidly in the "not excited" camp.

They are irrelevant these days anyway in college football. Especially National championship games

That entire half of the country doesn't play defense. Come to think of it, seems most any team not from the SEC doesn't play defense

When I went to Seattle for the game in '08, I was asked, more than once, is LSU a school? And they were completely serious.

They just don't do college football. At least most of the population over there.

If they national championship game was between Oregon and Stanford, what do you think the excitement level would be here in Louisiana?

I'm going to say on a scale of 1 to 10....1.

Yep, I don't think it'll be a 56-49 game or anything...which is unfortunate, because big numbers MUST = good game.

Most of my friends who are Oregon fans found out LSU was playing Oregon in the off season when I told them. They are pro football fans, and don't keep up with the college scene.

Well, I have not been real enthralled with the Western Half of the United States recently either

It's awesome. Just doesn't know college football. I thought it was kind of funny that in one of those polls though California thought Bama was a better match up for LSU than U$C.

No doubt - I have lived in Seattle and will be building a vacation/retirement home there in the next couple of years

I hope it's the lowest rated BCSCG in history. Screw ESPN/ABC and their cheap money grab. No way we should have to beat Alabama twice. I didn't know it was double elimination (for Bama).

That's what they've presented on the platter. A big turd sandwich. Leftover turd sandwich at that. And America sees it.

It is what it is, and it will be wonderful as well as unprecedented to beat Alabama twice in one season of football, but it's hard not to suspect that ESPN was completely overjoyed by the huge numbers they got for the 11/5 LSU/BAMA game in Tuscaloosa and started lobbying for a rematch almost instantly.

It's especially irritating, too, because the BCS's Twitter and Facebook accounts are entitled #EveryGameCounts... except, I guess, when you're playing Alabama.

When LSU wins again and the ratings are in the toilet, the BCS will make changes.

The media is working overtime now to pimp the game and generate excitement.

When LSU wins again and the ratings are in the toilet,

This game will be highly rated.
