The irony with the voters picking Nix because he’s the Oregon QB. Jayden is from Southern California while Nix is from Alabama.

West coasters can still vote for a west coast kid not a west coast program. We’ll see real soon. Still feel that JD gets it. The momentum is swinging his way with the Golden Arm award going to him. Granted that award does not always go to the heisman winner but more often than not it does.

Too many records to ignore. Many records that the SEC and LSU may not see again.

Won't be any West Coast bias in the voting because the voters are spread out equally in each region of the country.

I’ll say what I said when the rant was waxing that we’d never see the likes of Joe Burrow again. We will see it within the next ten years.

There is no west coast bias. There have only been 2 west coast heisman winners since Bush vacated the 2005 trophy. There have been 8 SEC winners since then.

4 in the last 20 years is a bias?

in that time frame

4 PAC 12 (3 USC, Oregon)
8 SEC (4 Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Florida, aTm)
1 Big 10 (Ohio State)
2 ACC (FSU, Louisville)
5 Big 12 (4 Oklahoma, Baylor)

I think they mean bias specifically from West Coast voters, not the rest of the country.

There is a good chance Daniels will get a portion of the 145 west coast votes.

No idea who or where the 145 votes go to, but I’d imagine more of them are in CA than the Pacific NW. Some of those will go to the hometown kid.

Same for Nix & voters from Alabama I’m sure.

Y’all misinterpreted what I’m saying.

I’m saying there COULD be bias now because of the lack of west coast representation in Cfb over the past 15 seasons.

People are sick of the SEC therefore they are pushing Oregon and Nix up there like rhey

I am sure the west coast voters will have a higher percentage of voters voting for Nix or Penix compared to other regions of the country.

When they put your jersey and helmet in the College football Hall of Fame before the Heisman vote it must mean something..I know it’s an award for an accomplishment but to have it placed there means you’ve done something no one or a few have ever done in a game/season/History of college football…where’s Bo Nix’s jersey and helmet?..

Cali voters may not want to vote for an Alabama kid playing for Oregon when there is a SoCal native on the ballot.

I’m more worried about SEC-fatigued east coast and Midwest voters.

That makes sense. I think there is a concerted effort to pump up the teams in the PAC-12. Oddly, or not so oddly, it seems to be centered on the teams going to the B1G though. I wonder if that has some financial motive.

No different than when they voted for USC in 2003. Why does anyone expect anything else?

I feel confident about Jayden winning the Heisman. Several voters have already turned in their ballots. Many voters believe the award should be judged on a level playing field of 12 games, which ALL the Heisman candidates had an opportunity to participate in.

HEISMAN TROPHY BALLOTING INFO

The states are divided into the six sections accordingly:

Far West:AZ, CA, HI, ID, MT, ND, NV, OR, SD, UT, WA, WY
Mid Atlantic:DC, DE, MD, NC, NJ, PA, SC, VA, WV
Mid West:IA, IL, IN, MI, MN, OH, WI
North East:CT, MA, ME, NH, NYC, NY, RI, VT
South:AL, FL, GA, KY, LA, MS, TN
Southwest:AR, CO, KS, MO, NE, NM, OK, TX

Each Section within the United States has 145 media votes, totaling 870 media votes across the country. Additionally every former Heisman winner, 57 presently, has a vote as well. In 1999, The Heisman Trophy agreed to develop a special program to allow the public at large to become part of the balloting process by permitting one (1) fan vote eligible in the overall tabulation. This program once again continues this year through a partnership with Nissan North America, bringing the total number of voters for the 2023 Heisman race to 928.

The actual ballots include a space for electors to designate three individuals for the Heisman Trophy. The first choice on an elector’s ballot receives three points in the overall voting tabulation, the second choice receives two points and the third choice receives one point.

Ballots are void unless signed by the elector. A first, second and third choice must be indicated on each ballot. The Heisman Committee created the point system in an effort to eliminate any sectional favoritism.

Key Heisman dates for 2023

Monday, November 27: Heisman Ballots are distributed to electors.
Monday, Dec. 4: Deadline for Heisman ballots to be submitted.
Monday Dec. 4: The 2023 Heisman finalists announced.
Saturday, Dec. 9: The announcement of the 2023 Heisman Trophy Winner via the televised Heisman Ceremony on ESPN. (Private Event)

Same here, but interesting that Vegas has such a bias for Nix & Oregon right now.

I noticed Jayden odds dropped a little from +145 to +160. Absolutely crazy that Oregon is a 10 pt favorite to a team they already lost to this season too.

Sure thing that voters in respective region may have bias for player in their region. West coast likely heavy on Nix and Southern voters heavy on Daniels.
