Why have double standards? Would our players be getting in fights at bars if they weren't allowed to drink alcohol either? How can you tell an 18 year old kid he can impair his brain functions one way but not the other?

I have my own views of marijuana. I don't expect anyone here to care about them anymore than I care about theirs, but these guys know the consequences and they do it anyway. That's a problem, regardless of anyone's personal feelings about cannabis.

That's it in a nutshell. There are rules in place and the individual decides to either follow or ignore the rules.

Weed is looked in a different light as alcohol and always will be. Trying to justify weed by using alcohol as an example is pointless.

I don't give a frick what the light it's used in. It's ridiculous, the rules are bullshite, and these 18 year old kids already give up enough of their life and free time to provide entertainment while barely putting food and clothes on the table. If they want to do something recreationally that haram no one (but possibly themselves) who are you, the NCAA, or anyone to tell them no? It's a bunch of old 5'10" conservatives running the show. But being from the south most of you are okay with that.

That may be the weirdest insult I've ever seen.

We can debate whether or not they should see more compensation, but let's not act like they aren't provided anything for their time and effort.

And since they work hard, they should be able to do as they please? The NCAA and LSU and the coaches are the "employers" of these student athletes while in school. So they do have the authority to tell them what they can and can't do. Just like your employer can tell you not to have your ear pierced, or have tattoos that are visible, or come clean shaven to work.

Oh, and I am white and from the south, but I'm 6 feet tall.

Based on his post history, that's not surprising.

I still don't understand why they are punished for using a substance that is far from performance-enhancing.

NO, I blame the player smokin pot.

It doesn't matter weather or not the rule is BS, and it doesn't matter if weed is legal in some states.

The players know the rules and the consequences of breaking the rules. If they then chhose to engage in banned activity... that's on the player, no one else. And if they can't stand down and follow those rules, they don't deserve to play.

It really is not complicated.

I don't give two shits about your feelings about cannabis. i prefer facts about cannabis and the fact is that it is safer and less harmful than alcohol and should be legal.
