I never said it would be seamless but the product displayed vs MSU was completely unacceptable.

The team Flat out quit. 7 points vs MSU. 7 points

It is amusing that in 2015 our recruiting was ranked number five in the country and in 2014 our recruiting was ranked number two in the country, but now we have those trying to put forth the excuse for our sloppy, uninspired play and terrible loss to Mississippi State as due to recruiting.

Overall class ranking doesn’t really mean much in the grand scheme of things, it’s the composition of the class. A lot of talent we got in those classes left LSU or is playing now for the first time.

Our O and D line classes were weak as hell for the last 3 years. A lot of project linemen and not many ready to play immediately.

2014 when our entire skill position players on offense had about 3 games started combined.

The last three recruiting classes were top 10.

SO now theres no talent?

We definitely are undertalented and thin on the OL. We are also thin at DT.

You don't disagree with that do you?

2015 Class
Tryon Johnson - No longer with the team
Maeh Teuhema - No longer with the team
Chidi Valentine-Okeke - No longer with team
Jazz Ferguson - No longer with team
George Brown - No longer with team
Isaiah Washington - No longer with team

That's 6 of our top 16 recruits in what would be the most senior of those 3 classes and doesn't include the couple of head cases that are still on the team.

And THAT's if you completely ignore that the class rankings don't care if you failed to recruit something. Theoretically, you could have the number 1 class on many sites while landing 20 WRs.

When you did in to our last few classes prior to today's freshman class at DT, OL, and QB, things get fricking ugly fast.

agreed but we easily have more future nfl talent than Miss st.

I think it's safe to say the talent is not the same it used to be

The goal posts continue to shift

There is no question that this team would have been one of Miles' least talented teams.

Do you disagree with that?

And who was in charge of the defense of line recruiting as well as being in Charge of all recruiting for at least a period of time?

And I'm sorry, but I don't think you get ranked as number two in the nation in recruiting without having a good bit of talent coming into your program.

What good is that info?

LSU's recruiting class rank average is Top 5, #4 actually.
Now, go see how many we still have?

And, go further than rankings and examine key positions because Rivals doesn't care if you fricking suck at a particular position but brought in 3 5 star WRs.

Which I've never disagreed on.

That said.

If you can't throw(our best QB is a castoff and the next two going IN to the year were jokes) and you can't stop the run because you suck at DT, it really doesn't matter that much if you are better than the other team at all the other positions.

I aree with you completely but who was responsible for D line recruiting? Why didn't we hire a new O line coach who can properly develop a offensive line.

I know we are thin but that still shouldn't result in a complete beatdown vs MSU

We had difficulties with the lines vs BYU as well.

Agree with the OP. Talent ain't the issue.

I would MUCH rather have to start 18 year olds at skill positions than have to start them on the LOS.

Give me five three star 20-21 year olds vs five 4 star 18 year olds on the LOS and my 5 are going to kick your 5's arse more often than not.

5 OL transferred since O became IC/HC

He was also the recruiting coordinator since 2015 and the DLine coach.

So you gonna blame Miles for that?

I can handles a loss but really? Blown out and not competitive with MSU is a completely new and unacceptable. They aren't 30 points better

We converted 4th downs to 1st downs with penalties for them. MSU is not 30 points better than LSU. But MSU is a very good team with a very good coach and took advantage of our mistakes which is what good teams do.

quote:

The ONLY reason O was hired was because of continuity, the plan was to hire the best coordinators and they will smoothly transition a talented team and have them compete

No, O was hired because Alleva is incompetent.

quote:

So now we need time? That was competely against every reason why we are running this experiment with the revolving coordinators, defeats the entire purpose if they always need time

If thats the case what hell is the point of this new system if we will always need time (year or two) to adjust?

18 year olds need time to learn college level plays from HS. Its very different. Aranda even said he had to teach basic football to some kids this year.

Our oline is thin and not very effective, our dline is thin. You can't win without good lines. Period.

Like it or not, we have to weather the storm. We have a good freshman class. Give them some time to learn the game at this level. paired with guys learning canada and aranda. We will be a power in the coming years.

This goes to show that the recruiting rankings are a very inexact science. Based on the product exhibited on the field last Saturday night, I have a hard time believing LSU has had top 10 recruiting classes the last several years. MSU outclassed us at just about every position. The thing that worries me the most is how the team seemed to quit midway through the 3rd quarter.
