I think we should hire kevin Mawae as o line coach. Now there is a "one of us guys" and an Lsu guy we can get behind. He knows his shite. And shite is what our oline is. Grimes is awful. Mawae can recruit. He would be well respected in the home. Soon to be hall a fame guy.

I’m not saying I wouldn’t want Mawae but how do you know he can recruit or coach?

Let's hire a guy who has never coached. Excellent idea.

I'm not advocating one way or the other. But:

what offensive line recruit wouldn't want to learn from a hall of famer?

Yeah, lets hire the guy without a single year of Ol coaching experience. That'll certainly save the OL woes.

You don't go from an intership to making 300k at LSU.

I have listened to Kevin speak, and I think he'd be a phenomenal recruiter. He may very well be an incredible Ol coach at some point, but that's ridiculous to say he's the best option for LSU right now with nothing but accolades as a player and an internship.

I don't know how anyone can argue with taking a chance on this guy. he knows how to block at one position, I can tell you that. certainly he's learned enough about the other positions as well. fire, passion, attitude.

if miles would've hired this guy he might still be here. JMO. way overdue for this move.

What are we, a top 50 program? LSU doesn't have to "take a chance". Why the hell not just go out and get a proven commodity for the budget we have for staffing.

This would look insanely idiotic if Kevin weren't an LSU alum

Mawae knows technique inside and out.

Good technique coupled with top talent equals a great OL.

I actually think he will be a great coach, but I want whoever takes over for O to have full autonomy on hiring his staff.

it's only taking a chance in the most theoretical sense. we need this man on the staff.

No idea if Kevin is the right guy but there is no way in hell O is convincing anyone worth a damn to join the staff this off season.

What are you basing this on? In 3-4 years Mawae may very well be a great fit the LSU job just not now.

Dude is well respected in the NFL and Some of the current NFL coaches have said they have learned a think or two from Mr. Mawae. I would gladly take this guy on staff over grimes any day . Question is does he even want a college coaching gig?

Don't know till you try. Mawae would take his call. Grimes would probably resign if you did make the call. Win-win. Let Canada or Robinson coordinate the running game.

meh... Grimes would be out anyway.

HOF + Technique ("get me to NFL") + Work Ethic = High Probability of Good Recruiting
