We interrupt the melt over baseball to talk about this weekend's opponent: Alabama

Record: 15-26
SEC record: 2-16
The good
1) They have wins over South Carolina and Arkansas, 2 of the better teams in the league.
2) Of their 16 league losses, 6 were by 1 run (including the last 4) 1 was by 2 runs, and 3 were by 3 runs.....so of their 16 losses, 10 are by 3 runs or less.
3) They haven't been blown out in any league game...the worst loss is by 6 runs.
4) Their leading hitter in SEC play is Gene Wood. I always liked his work as announcer on Family Feud with Richard Dawson.
The bad
1) Their batting average in SEC games is .233
2) Their ERA in SEC games is 5.11
3) Their "best" SEC starting pitcher is Nick Eicholtz, whose ERA is 5.67
4) In SEC play, their pitchers have walked 108 batters in 160 IP
The ugly
1) They lost to a SWAC school (UAPB, 8-3)
2) They lost to Jacksonville State twice and once to Samford, 10-3
3) They were swept in 3 games at home by Oral Roberts, who is pretty good, but to get swept isn't ever a good look.
4) The poor bastards drew the worst possible SEC schedule: the two teams in the East that they don't play are Georgia and Tennessee...by far and away the 2 worst teams in the league besides Bama.
SEC record: 2-16

They'll double their SEC win tally this weekend

Nothing cures slumps like playing the 2017 fighting Tigers

Man I hate BAMA, but after the two losses to Tulane and UNO, loss to McNeese and the fact I relished in a win o over SLU, I can't honestly say I have high hopes for a series win. I'll continue to watch, go to the occasional game, but have lost hope that CPM can get this team back on track. Yeah, it's too early to throw in the towel, but CPM is not showing leadership to me, during the game. If I can't stand to see his bewildered look in the games I watch, imagine how that look wears on you if you see it daily? Hope Paul can get them motivated and back on track! Geaux Tigers!

Aren't they last in just about every statistical category?
Posted on 4/27/17 at 10:57 am to LSUGrad9295
They're so overdue for a win that I feel pretty confident we drop one, though we need the sweep

Good god could you imagine if they lose this series? This site will burn...

Yes they are....but we're fully capable of making them look like world-beaters!

I agree. And let the haters hate, but I think we go over there and sweep.
But if we don't, life will continue, the sun will rise, and I won't "melt" over the results of a game played by a bunch of 18-22 year old kids like many people here seem to do.

Yea go ahead and minimize and deflect. You care enough to get on the Rant and say you don't care.

Well if the midget drops this series it will get real interesting

Link to where I said I don't care?? "Care" and "Melt" are two different things. I "care" if LSU wins or loses, but I won't "melt" and show up on here throwing a temper tantrum like a 7 year old kid who didn't get his way. I won't show up here wanting to fire everyone in sight, complain about how the program has regressed, complain about not having a good hitting coach, complain about not having a good pitching coach, or all the other babble that spews here after a loss.
Some people take this shite way too seriously. I want LSU to win every game. If they don't, life shall continue.

You're confusing mounting frustration with taking it too seriously. I get the "life goes on" mentality and all. But what is infuriating to me is to watch talent squandered...plain and simple. The fans have had to endure it for years with the FB team, to a lesser extent with the BB program, and now (not to be outdone), the baseball program is showing signs of going on life support as well.
We have the talent on this team to get to Omaha...without question. CPM doesn't seem to be able to push the right buttons to make it happen. This phenomena is not new to this season. We've seen hints of it over the last few years.
I hope he gets this team heading in the right direction. But as of now, we're playing like hot garbage and Paul will have to shoulder all the blame for that presently.
The common thread among all 3 of these teams are coaches who are reactive instead of proactive. And even when reaction occurs, in many cases, it is minimal and ineffectual in bringing about positive results.
