We are LSU!

I look back over the Miles tenure and take stock of where we've been. We saw the devastation of two hurricanes wreak havoc on our state as Tiger Stadium was used as a landing site for helicopters flying in evacuees to be placed inside the PMAC. Our players had friends and relatives shacked up in their apartments and dorm rooms. And we persevered.

Then we saw are star QB go down in the SEC Championship. Noone thought we could beat the mighty Miami team with a back up with little to no experience. But we showed the world that no Hurricanes could stop us that season. We dismantled the vaunted Hurricane D with a backup QB. And we persevered.

The next season a gut-wrenching loss to Auburn kept us from a chance to seek retribution against Florida in the SEC Championship game. Could we match up against the high-octane offense of Charlie Weis and Brady Quinn. We stomped the heck out of them. And we persevered.

Then came the off-season. We saw a once-beloved former coach defect to an in-Division rival and use questionable recruiting tactics against our coach. We saw a Louisiana high-school phenom opt to leave for the hated Trojans. And we persevered.

We persevered through a rebuilding year in which we lost are No.1 pick QB, our two leading WRs and the leader of our defense. Could we really win with Matt Flynn at the helm? We persevered through a cheap shot on our star DT. We persevered through two losses to mediocre teams.

We persevered through rumors of our coach leaving for his alma mater. Herbie's false reports did little to distract our damn strong team.

We persevered through an early deficit in the Championship. Who would have thought we could come back against the Buckeyes? But, we persevered.

I know at this time many are panicking and casting doom and gloom over next fall's football season. Our damn strong football coach has led this team through some trying times already. Have faith that he will lead them to greatness again. We've won Championships with guys like Mauck and Flynn. You can have McKnight and Perrilloux and Luther Davis. I'll take Coach Miles and his band of damn strong character individuals as they represent this state, this school and this football team with class, integrity and domination!
