torn = ruptured. Similar to break = fracture. Means the same thing. If Mett tore (ruptured) his ACL, he will not be playing in the bowl game

A torn ACLU will severely limit any lateral movement in the knee but forward movement is not limited.

I remember the late Ralph Norwood getting up in the '87 Ohio State game and brushing off the trainers helping him to sidelines and waving to the crowd only to have a torn ACL and miss the rest of the year.

I'm pretty sure Phillip Rivers had his leg amputated and played the entire 4th quarter playoff game a few years back.

I tore mine playing softball and still batted that night. Running to first was VERY difficult. Convalesced for a month and returned only to do it again. The BIG difference between Mett and mine was about 25 years, and my knee wasn't hyperextended. After a Physical Therapist showed me how to stretch, I never had the same problem again. I hit a double two weeks ago and (puff-puff) made it to 2nd base with no pain (though my brain and body continue to argue about me being insane for playing at my age). The injury will heal, and Mett will be OK.

I've had 2 torn acl's and walked off. shite hurt, don't get me wrong, but as long as you aren't cutting or moving laterally it's not shocking that he could walk off under his own power. Again, not diminishing his toughness!

This is true, had the same injury actually ran another play but fell down when I went to cut on a out route. Mine was only partially torn.

I tore my ACL the first week of basic training when I went to West Point and was able to finish. They told me I could either be dismissed and get it fixed on my own at home, or finish basic training and have it fixed right before school started.

when I ruptured my acl, I looked like Curley of the three stoogies on the ground spinning around in a circle on my shoulder. After about 5 minutes the pain went down by 80%...but those first five were a bitch

Tearing an ACL doesn't mean that you can't walk on it. I tore mine playing basketball early last year and it felt funny but didn't necessarily hurt. Even tried to keep playing basketball until I realized that I messed something up bad. Only time I couldn't walk on it was after having it fixed. I just couldn't jump or make sudden movements on it since it was obviously weak and might give out.

As for Mett, he is obviously tough to take some of the hits he has and still bounce back. I am sure the docs will take care of him and he will be as strong or stronger than he started after rehab.
