I'm not sure if this is the correct board for this, but I wanted to relay how I now watch ESPN and SECNetwork without a cable subscription.

I signed up for a free trial of SlingTV. I already had a Roku hdmi stick from Samsclub. I was then able to watch ESPN and SECNetwork either via SlingTV on Roku, or directly through ESPN listing SlingTV as the provider via the Roku stick, computer or phone App. The pc SlingTV app doesn't work as smoothly.

This was a nice find for me at a low price. I hope it helps many of you who are cutting the cable coard.

question for you.

I was gonna sign up for sling but I don't have cable tv. Is it worth anything? Or do you have to have access to cable to pull the feed from?

TIA

Here's what I did for a while. Buy an appletv (or roku) and bum someone's espn3 log in. Both the appletv and roku have the watchESPN app.

I use my own log in with my dad's cable TV subscription or I go to a sports bar. My bar tabs (usually several per month) are cheaper than a month of cable.

You have to have internet connection of sufficient streaming speed. Wait until the next sports event is on ESPN or SECNetwork where you can't watch over Air. Try the Sling for free and see how it works for you.

I completely happy with SlingTV. You also get a lot of other channels.

i watch it through watchespn also. works a lot smoother than the slingtv app. 25 bucks a month ain't bad. all i watch is football, so i don't miss cable at all.

First watch row sports (something like that) is a plan C. Does have some ads, but generally easy to click away. Works great just in case you dont get anything solved

I have Sling with ESPN networks and SECN. Also have a digital antenna for CBS and haven't had problems.

If I really want to see other games I can't get, I'll use a friend's login for watchESPN or whatever.

What is the minimum required internet (download) speed?
I'm thinking of getting SlingTV with Standard Time Warner internet option (advertised as 15 MBPS download speed).

I'm getting 12.5 and it works fine. I've experienced some occasional audio jumps here or there, but it's hardly noticeable during a live broadcast. If I do, I just re-click on the broadcast and everything catches up.

Either A. This is a big stretch or B. You're a no drinking pussy.

I kid I kid. I'm so close to cutting the cord just isn't simple enough yet. I'd rather pay the money than have to tell my wife and kids everytime how to find a show or turn it on. I'm thinking by next year it'll be a GEAUX!!!!
