believers out of some players and fans...I work with individuals in the Seattle area, and to be honest, they are quietly optimistic on their chances against LSU...I know, I know..we think they don't have the horses, but apparently, the players have been working their butts off and want to make a statement...My friend is close to the program and says they are light years behind LSU in talent..but, first game, on the road, a poitergeist ....I just don't want any surprises for this game!

Someone tell me I'm just over-reacting!

As long as the team doesn't come in cocky and takes care of business there won't be a problem. We need to hand the ball off 35 times to wear that d-line down which won't take much.

I am seriously considering laying $1000 on the game.

ETA: LSU of course.

When you hire USC's OC after an 0-12 season, you gotta believe things are gonna get better. I don't blame UW for thinking it has a chance—I mean, it's not like we're Florida and the Huskies are Charleston Southern. I'm confident we're going to win, but not necessarily by 84 points: I'll say 28-14 Tigers, or maybe 34-20.

Regardless, I hope the Husky program takes off—after Sept. 5. I want to see the PAC-1 expand to the PAC-2 or PAC-3.

There might be something to the thinking that because Washington has something to prove LSU might get caught taking the Huskies lightly, BUT it's not like LSU is coming off a stellar campaign.

Sure, Washington would have paid good money to go 8-5 last season, but LSU saw that record as a bad year. LSU is going into the game with something to prove. It wants to get the bad taste of 2008 out of its collective mouth, and it think this game has all the makings of the last two games LSU played v. Arizona, maybe even worse in its lopsidedness.

What team doesnt think they have a chance to win the first game of the year. Look at App St last year. Our worst team in a decade and we still whipped them. The coach is just tryin to change the culture and attitude of the program. In order for the team and fans to buy in, they have to believe they have a fighting chance. Thats the first step to improving. They will get better, but first game against us, not gonna happen. Plus on the fast turf there. It will look like we r runnin the 4 X4 relays with pads on

They just replaced the turf and it should play a little slower.

I don't see them stopping our running game. If they try, I think Jefferson is more than capable moving the ball through the air with Lafell and Tolliver one on one.

I think UW will be able to move the ball.

I'm sure Curley Hallman had many people fooled and were optomistic going into the first game against the aggies...

Exactly! It isn't as though LSU is coming off of an undefeated season and has been taking it easy all offseason.

Washington's revamped offensive line only has 1 guy over 300lbs. They are switching over to a zone blocking O line that has to be smaller and faster.

remember this time last year when all those app state fans came on here and talked about how they were "poised to make a run and be the first 2a team to vie for the nc"...

If we play well early in the contest and avoid turnovers, we should be fine.
