If this is true and LSU doesn't offer him then the scholarship should be burned to the ground.

The biggest trump card that LSU holds, IMO, is the Big 5 conference designation. Make no mistake that Houston has (and continues) to enhance its facilities and has an administration fully committed to athletics. I'm not saying UH can hold a candle to LSU in terms of history, prestige, etc., but the gap resource-wise is nothing like it used to be in the past.

Add in boosters like Tilman Fertitta and they can pay the man, that's not an issue. What is an issue at this time is the uncertainty around the Big XII. There are continuing signs that the Big XII doesn't want Houston (a story just last week mentioned the possibility of expanding to 12 in just football only, an obvious nod to BYU), so the fact that this process is still unsettled plays to LSU's advantage at this point.

All that being said, I sure hope LSU treads very lightly and with dignity with Herman as his team (unlike ours) still has some very large goals to play for this season; being a distraction is the last thing we want to have happen with him.

I don't think any coach we'd want for LSU would do that.

Seriously doubt it. The administration's mishandling of the situation last year would be a MAJOR negative to overcome for any potential head coach. The fact we put in more players into the NFL and have a passionate fan base are pluses, but for the candidates who have their pick of openings, doubt LSU is on top.

There's been several articles recently to the effect Houston will be hard pressed to make the Final Four due to its schedule & the fact that any one loss Power Five team will have an leg up on Houston. FWIW. Best case scenario, LSU offers his agent behind the scenes, all the i's are dotted & t's crossed and at the end of the regular season in Dec. LSU hires him immediately. Giving him almost 2 mths to follow up with the recruiting that Coach O had been doing all this time. But can not see Coach O staying if not offered, as he did the same thing at USCw; he bailed when not offered.

I think that ship has sailed. Coach O will never be a head coach at a major school. He can make just about as much money at LSU and be home every night.
