Cover 2 and man coverage are not mutually exclusive, but I'm sure you already knew that.

It's just for all the novices out there - you kind of implied that they are necessarily exclusive, and I'm certain you didn't intend that, being the football genius you so obviously are.

Give up the short shite, hold them in the red zone and don't give up the big play. The only REAL problem was some poor tackling.

While there are a handful of outstanding QBs we've yet to face this year, Geno Smith is maybe the most amazing QB out there this season. I am real glad he's not on the Bama roster.

Ace, I respect your opinion, I have no beef with you, only the trolls that are quick to bash for no reason. I pointed something out and was insulted for no reason, you can go back and read the statements. I read what you posted and agreed.

Aii I was tryin to say is that we gave up a lot of yardage, be it in soft coverage as some were on here sayin or not. That's a problem I'm sure Chavis will correct, LSU plays primarily a lot of man to man schemes because they have good corners, it allows Mathieu to stay in the nickel role that he is comfortable in.

the bottom line at least for me is that the turnovers we caused WV to make along with Mo Claibornes 99 yard TD return was huge for us because for a time they were stayin close to us, TM7's great plays, one stripping a player and the other breakin up a pass and then almost carrying it in the endzone was huge for us. but until that happened they were moving the ball pretty darn easy on us be it soft coverage or whatever, I would have preferred Chavis stay man to man and put in more blitz packages somethin he didn't do because I would rather this QB beat us on man coverage. We put heat on him to makes him throw sooner than he likes, the packages we had allowed him to sit in the pocket for awhile until he found someone thus the high passing yardage for him, but those TO's were huge because it broke the game open, and all this is water under the bridge now! peace!

I think Griffin is the most exciting along with Wilson of Wisconsin. Griffin is on a bad team, but Wilson gives Wisconsin a dimension they never had before, and gives them serious MNC aspirations.

WE ALSO GOT LIT UP FOR THE TUNE OF 400+YARDS

SO IF A TEAM, A BETTER TEAN THEN WVU DOES THE SAME AND WE LOSE, DON'T frickIN SAY I TOLD YOU SO!!!

WE ALSO GOT 4 frickING TURNOVERS!!!!! COULD HAVE HAD MORE!!!

When a team scores a TD for every 200 total yards, your defense is doing FINE.

yeah, it is fine, I said that, I just thought Chavis was playin a style he didn't need to do because they have good corners, just stay with the man to man like he was doing. but he is the DC and gets paid for it, so it's his call, I'm just giving my opinion like people do.

TM7 made 2 great plays that opened up the game.

probably the best pure passer, but certainly not the best overall QB

I think we'll start seeing the defense we want to see coming up...playing against the hurry up offenses of Oregon and WVU just demands a different style. Opportunistic defense that doesn't give up big plays and can handle redzone possessions due to less field to cover. Either way, I'm looking forward to a pounding this weekend!

yeah, I agree with that, those 2 teams Oregon and WVU spread the field more than what LSU is used to seeing, even though they are different in there offenses, WV being more pass oriented, they called for a lot of rotation of fresh bodies on the field because of there hurry up styles. LSU can now go back to their man to man allowing for the DLine to have more people up front to rush the QB's.

We'll hopefully see more pressure on qbs outside of just the front 4 rushing. We didn't really blitz against WVU because Geno can release the ball fast and can read the defense...not to mention their O line played pretty well...

what is it about game plan strategy you don't get. "give them a long field, let them throw short passes all the way down, pick off a mistake, and if they score occasionally, so what?" If we'd played 4 more quarters, they would have run up a thousand yards and lost by 8 thouchdowns. How is this complicated?????

It's all good. I remain convinced it was a combination of factors - a calm analysis is more appropriate than bashing, in my opinion.

if only people on this board would adopt that philosphy, but oh wait, this is the rant.
