I wasn’t regularly on this thread during the game while at a bar with Deacs. Was the infield condition discussed? There is zero chance a well executed bunt should bounce 10 feet in the air like that. The LSU guy made an amazing play, but regardless, on MLB infields, I think that exact same bunt would have scored the run 95/100 times.

Hell, the game before LSU had a routine hard ground ball bounce over 6’5” Kurtz’s head. Also should never happen.

The CWS being in Omaha is a cool tradition, the outfield grass looks amazing, and the fan experience fantastic, but the field dimensions, infield condition, and field alignment with wind/sun leave a ton to be desired.

Can't blame it on the venue. When you play in a small ball park like WF does, it can get humbling showing up to a real park. The melt is glorious.

What are the dimensions of Wakes Field and has anyone been there to know how it plays, wind etc?

While its fun to see them melt, i dont disagree about the construct and alignment of the field, along with the built in shadows in the evening

How many homeruns did they hit in the Chuck? 0. They got humbled outside of their highschool stadium. Their pitching, however was legit.

One day im gonna need someone to sit me down and explain why ballparks are allowed to have different dimensions in baseball.

I’ve always known, but never really understood why thats a thing

There is a LOT to hate about that stadium, but that is first time EVER I've heard complaints about the infield.

Bet they weren’t complaining when they had a lead off single in the 9th I believe that died in the grass before it got to White.

So in essence they are bitching about baseball in general. Because every field is different and every mlb team tailors their team around their field and vice versa. This was a neutral site for both teams. Both teams had to deal with the same uncertainties. You can’t blame the venue if both teams are dealing with it equally.

Loser fanbase. Go hump each others face to deal with the loss. You won the first two games and only needed to win 1 more game to go to the finals and you couldn't do it. Your offense was terrible, accept it and move on. You got beat twice not once twice. Loser arse fanbase.

Back in the day they were building stadiums and fields in neighborhoods and had to work with the dimensions of the area they had. See Fenway Park. Then it just became tradition and it’s a quirk of baseball now that every field is a little different with their own set of ground rules.

We bitch about that park incessantly (maybe for good reason) but it’s not like it gave either team an unfair advantage. We were both playing on the exact same field…

A good coach adjusts the strategy for the environment.

It’s one of my favorite things about baseball.
Every ballpark is unique.

Schwab park is horrible, but everyone has to play on it. Not like one team gets an advantage.
