It's like a timber cruise. You don't have to count every tree. Just take a relative sample of typical hours and multiply it out.

Could it be they are referring to visitors that actually go to his habitat to see Mike. When I go to a game I am not there to see Mike (although that is always a plus if he makes an appearance) but rather a game.

Still, ten of thousands must stop by his cage on game day for football, men's basketball, women's basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, and track. If they're counting non-sporting event stops, well then students stop by daily going to and from the student parking lot. Perhaps they count the number of people going to the gift shop next door on a random day and multiply that times 365 days.

Im thinking that's how many go to his habitat to see him... Not the numbers in the stadium. They have cameras around there. That's probably how they count it.

Stopped and talked to him once a few years a go on the way to class. He was kinda out there but super nice. He loved mike more than most people love their kids.
