They ran out of beer in Blacksburg.

That has happened at several road venues where LSU fans are involves. I don't know whether to be proud of that or not (I like beer myself), but most LSU fans seem pleased as can be.

I was in Blacksburg that year, but not in the part of town where the showdown took place.

I do know that they didn't know how to take us.

One asked a friend "Do ya'll always travel like this". His response was that this was pretty common in the SEC.

I will say I can well recall a time when I could get as many road tickets as I wanted all together and down low for trips to Gainesville, College Station and Auburn. And only a mere 10 years ago.

Those days are gone and it means success, which I like, but I miss not having to scratch and claw to get tickets for our yearly group trip.

Absolutly not! We stopped at a Blimpie to eat before headin out Fri. and some college kid behind the counter was telling his buddy there to go down and check the parking lot on campus because it looked like "gypsy invasion"

Riot?....why?
LSU fans were walking around the streets of "downtown" Blacksburg yelling "GEAUX TIGERS!" and "TIGER BAIT!" and crowding all the bars singing the fight song . . . in Blacksburg after a Va. Tech game, that apparently constitutes "a riot."

In all seriousness, they (the townspeople, including the police) thought that since we'd lost so badly, all the LSU fans would pack up and go home or at least go to bed. When we turned out in force in the bars and on the streets, they feared that we were so pissed off about the game that we were planning on rioting and trashing the town. They were unfamiliar with the concept of the fanbase of a losing team still going out and partying (at least to our extent).

Shitty party town, great looking campus though. But 1:30 last call sucks. I remeber being in ATL the days for the sugar and peach bowl and the guy at the espn zone told me the place had got drank dry for 4 nights in a row and it had never happend before.

I was there. It is the best road trip of the 30 plus that I have been on. Talked to a bunch of VT fans and they had never seen anything like it. I think Seattle will be similar as to the culture shock of Pac 10 fans and SEC fans.
