re: Video of Why we dont throw the Ball (Posted on 11/18/14 at 8:22 pm to nm1230) quote: But damn, coaching and teaching isn't all taking a Drew Brees or Philip Rivers and adding icing to the cake. You make the big bucks to take these guys and make them better. They aren't getting better. They are getting worse. That's basically it in a nutshell. In fact they have done just the opposite. They have managed to sap the confidence right out of our players. Instead of developing strengths they've magnified weaknesses. Our recievers can't run routes or catch and our QB's can't throw and collapse under pressure. All these guys were highly recruited and shined in camps and most played that 7 on 7 off season passing football and must of looked the part.

This is largely due to recruiting kids and trying to convert them to a system they are not comfortable in rather than making the system more flexible to provide more comfort to the players. It slows down the growth, IMO.

Explain how they won't run out of the spread? You know.. instead of 8-9 in the box.. there's only 5-6. Bigger holes to hit, more space to maneuver. If passing is such a huge issue.. you would think they would run out of the spread and make the run game much easier. Running with fullbacks, tightends or both is just asking for defensive coordinators to stack the box. Not to mention that stupid fullback waving his arm on where to hint which side we're running to.

You literally have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Please stop

And it's peripheral

Can I play too? Just curious, why "3"? And what exactly are the criteria?

Soph QB
Soph WR
Fr WR (can I sub Leslie at WR since he's a Sr?)
Include TE's? (Dickson's a Sr. and Gordon's a Jr.)

Alas, let's not forget that last Saturday was game #11 - we're not that young anymore. And we're not talking about throwing it all over the field, just enough to keep D's honest or "serviceable" as you put it.

AJ was good enough to beat out Rivers, Rettig, and Harris. It is almost unconscionable that AJ could be that good on one hand and this bad 11 games into the season.

There is something fundamentally flawed about what we're trying to do on O.

All I heard was yelling. Zero coaching at all. Qb's just look back at Cameron occasionally. Stare the receiver down the whole time. Great practice!

what do you want the coach to do?
that is the most basic throw you can make.

he can't throw it for them.

All he can do it make them do it over and over again, which is what you do with timing throws.

You play the hand you're dealt, and that's all Cam could do this season. Had Harris showed he could handle the moment, he would be starting. The AU game, albeit a bad situation for a true freshman was his opportunity to claim the starting role. Hopefully, he learns how to channel his nerves better the next time

You mean the game that we were down 17-0 before we gained a first down? Running the ball 18 out of the first 20 plays? Putting harris in pressure situations down by 17 points on 3rd and long? In a hostile environment where the defense can pin their ears back? Without getting into a rhythm throwing the ball at all? Harris wasnt given a chance to succeed in the auburn game

Evidence that Cam and Les know better than the Rant.

If both QBs that we have PLUS the two others we recruited but were behind these guys can't hit basic pass patterns, um.............THAT is NOT an argument in defense of our coaches.

Who the frick do you think recruited this mess?

We have reminded you Terran's numerous times since the legendary QB Dysfunction actually began playing out into stark reality about Cam's "1950's Offense" tirade during Spring practice.

Yeah, we got to recruit better. Better and much much smarter at the QB position! That's grossly apparent and a given.

Absolutely must get Shea Patterson for 2016.......

So you gave me all this shite, yet couldn't name three young QB and WR combos that did well?

We came into this season with a QB that threw the ball 29 times, and a true freshman backup. That in itself is not the problem if the starting QB is at least accurate, or has a steong arm. The problem is in addition to the youth at QB, the youth at WR was just as bad. We had a total of 8 receptions from the WR spot coming in to this year. We haven't thrown to the tight ends much since 2010, and the TEs drop the ball a lot as well.

Do you not understand that we were about as green and inexperienced as you can get in the passing game?

So again, name me 3 teams that have come in that inexperienced in the passing game, and done well? If not well, just serviceable.

Establish your criteria. What age do they they need to be a what do you consider "doing well" and I"ll be happy to provide some examples that fit within your criteria.

Again, if we go by your insistence that we are young and it's impossible to be good or even show improvement when you are young...who's fault is it we are so young? If success is impossible for younger QBs and WRs then why how could this staff allow LSU to be in such an impossible position? That's even more unforgivable.

To your logic- Jennings just sucks is isn't coachable. Harris is the real deal because you said so. But isn't ready to outperform that stellar performance Jennings gave Saturday. And it's impossible to be successful or improve on offense with youth. But the coaches aren't held accountable for gaps in the roster at those positions.

We've consistently had top rated recruiting classes. This year alone they brought in the top player/RB. The top receiver and another top 5 receiver.

Perhaps you could argue they aren't targeting the right personnel for their scheme. Other than that I don't know what point you are trying to make.

There are lots of "lesser" talented QB's in the country who's coach comes up with better gameplans than the shite we see every saturday.

Looks like his second pass, while completed I think, was behind the receiver.

Sims is pretty shitty for a 5th year senior. He just plays on a good team

He is not $hitty. He started off as an RB there. He is completing 61% of his passes, averages 5 yards per rush (with sacks included) and he has 18 TDs to 3 Ints. No matter how good the players are around you, when you only throw 3 picks heading into your regular season finale, you are doing a damn good job. Obviously, he has Cooper to thank for a higher completion % and big gains on short throws, but still... The the biggest thing is that when they needed big drives against LSU and State, he delivered in huge fashion making great plays with his feet and his arm.

This just isn't true. If the opponent has 8 in the box against a two wide set, and you put two more WR's wide, they can cover that with six in the box easily. So you have two less defenders, but you also have two less blockers. This leaves six defenders being blocked by five linemen. You're still outnumbered.
