Driving 15 hours Thursday to almost Arizona. Waking up Friday morning to see the Grand Canyon, then driving to Vegas afterwards for 3 nights at The Luxor. LSU spanking USC Sunday night which is walking distance from hotel. Driving back Monday morning. Spending the night in Albuquerque Monday night, then back to Minden Tuesday. Man I cannot wait.

Sounds tiring to this old man. But I admire the effort.

I drove from Scottsdale Az a few days back from Covington, la. For work. It’s a beautiful ride. 1550 miles. Was a piece of cake since it’s so neat to look at. Have fun!

That stretch from Ft Stockton to San Antonio is a long trip.

Luxor is right next to Mandalay Bay (LSU hotel). I think they are actually attached

Doesn't sound like you will be in this smaller city but Flagstaff, AZ is in my top 3 or 4 smaller cities in America. Lowell Observatory, pine trees, ski resort just north of town, Grand Canyon a bit further north, Sedona just south a bit, etc. Oh, and N Arizona University.

Ditto on Flagstaff. Warning that Temps can be 15 degrees cooler in Flagstaff than in surrounding area.

Flying from S Florida to Vegas on Friday. Staying 4 days at the Fontainebleau which is new and really nice for about $430/night. Then off to San Diego for 4 days to see family...

We're planning to drive as well. 4 people. Baton Rouge > Amarillo > Vegas.
It's really not that bad if we get a good night's sleep instead of getting drunk in Amarillo(most likely. ).

This is for the 7 'tards that down voted my pistol recommendation. Being that I live an hour away I might just know something.
"The following ten states have the highest gun deaths per capita (per 100,000): Alaska (24.4), Mississippi (24.2), Wyoming (22.3), New Mexico (22.3), Alabama (22.2), Louisiana (22.1), Missouri (20.6), South Carolina (19.9), Arkansas (19.3), and Montana (19.3). The states with the highest gun deaths per capita have some of the country's highest gun ownership rates. Montana has the highest with 66.3%, followed by Wyoming with 66.2%, and Alaska with 64.5%."

My wife and I take a long, driving trip every October since retirement. This year, we'll leave BR on Aug 27 and drive to Vegas and then off to mts in Utah and Colorado for another 2 weeks or so.

If you go through San Antonio to and from Minden, you're on a long, strange trip.
