They've scored 16 more runs than us and we've given up 8 less runs so thats an 8 run differential over almost 50 games. Our Fielding and Pitching is better but marginally and their hitting is marginally better than ours. We have 4 more HR's but they're batting .314 to our .310. Records essentially identical other than SEC play.
eta. the run differential may not reflect this weekend.

That's about as even as it gets.

I really doubt we end up playing vandy in the sec tournament, we'll be in opposite brackets and its doubtful either will have much motivation to make a serious run, and even if they end up playing in the championship both will have their scrub pitchers going. The best chance for a legit matchup is Omaha.

I think we're pretty evenly matched.
Yeah
Plus their SEC opponents' record is 96-132 and LSU's is 109-121. Of course Vandy is good but they do get to play all of Auburn, Missouri, Tennessee, and Georgia.

While the motivation may not seem to be there for us, we always seem to play well in Hoover. Great way to get in the groove of tournament baseball.

Every time lsu has won the CWS, we have either won the SEC or won the SEC tournament. I say our guys better be ready to win in Hoover.

This as well. I love winning in Hoover. It's a big momentum builder and indicates the team is clicking.

I love winning in hoover because I get to see it in person. One of my favorite hoover memories is when Blake Dean made Bama fans cry.

If both Vandy and lsu go to omaha, Do you think we get placed on the same side of the bracket or opposite sides?

Depends on seeds. as of right now probably so if UNC is #1
1,4,5, and 8 are paired as well as 2,3,6, and 7

Barring collapses, both LSU and Vandy will be top 4 national seeds. If the regionals and super regionals go chalk to Omaha, the bracket shakes out like this:
1 v 8
4 v 5
2 v 7
3 v 6
So the only two ways LSU and Vandy will be on the same side of the bracket is if one of the teams gets the top seed and the other gets the 4 or if one is 2nd and the other is 3rd.

Mahtook was freshman tournament MVP in 2009; Bregman needs to go get him one.

I foresee a UNC #1 overall with Vandy and LSU #2 and #3, respectively.
I really think Vandy is the most impressive team in the nation and should get the #1 but the committee is gonna committee and put that ACC team #1.

So do we think Vandy has a better team than us this year?
Not sure, but their SEC only stats are sick.

I don't know a single CWS champion that hasn't gone through adversity during the regular season. UNC and Vandy have amazing records and have played great baseball, but what have they had to fight through? They remind me so much of the 2000 USC team and the 1998 LSU team. They racked up records and stats but no ring to show for it.

Does it really count as a sweep if they only played two?
Better question, would Bama have dogpiled after learning they'd only lose two games to Vandy?

I think vandys starting pitching may be better, our bullpen is better. Hitting even so I think it would be a fun series.
