In the 6 year streak of SEC national champs, there were a few SEC teams #1 to start the season. None of them won the natty that year. Some other SEC team won.

Well, you know what they say......you have to break some records to make a National Championship cake.

"Your poll is as gay as it is insignificant," LSU coach Les Miles told USA TODAY Sports in a statement. "I'd wipe my arse with it if the ink didn't stain the ol' royal cheeks."

i think the returning players are still pissed about how the team played against bama . this attitude will translate into a mission ..watch out sec teams.

Really wish they had BAMA as #1 and LSU #2 to start the season as a reminder of how we finished last season. Would have teed off our team, reminded us of the "scar"...what we did not finish lat year that we ARE FINISHING IN 2012!

It's not where you start, but where you FINISH!

If Alabama beats LSU on Nov. 3, USC and Oregon split two meetings, Oklahoma loses twice, and the rest of the top 10 loses twice (all of these events are VERY possible), you know what could happen, right? A Bama-LSU rematch in Miami for the (cough) "national championship." This really could happen, folks. It's hardly absurd to think as much.

Interesting notion:

When USC and Oregon do stage their own rematch in the Pac-12 Championship Game, setting the stage for a season split between the two teams, will the college football community realize that split-division conferences are not helping the sport? Then look at the SEC, where the West champion will slaughter the East champion. A clear-cut conference champion is a good thing, but the conferences need to pursue provisional championship games as opposed to mandatory ones within a split-division.
