While I know everyone is excited about Burrow coming to LSU and largely lauding him as the next great QB because he was coached by WB savante Meyer, most of you really should realize Meyer wasn’t the reason for their development in most cases.

At Utah and UF, he had Mullen until Tebow’s senior year in which the offense was mediocre in comparison to previous years. Mullen was the developer then and it shows with his MSU QB record. Same goes for Cam's development while at UF.

At tOSU, his best years came with Tom Herman as his Qb coach and OC. Again once Herman left for UH, Cardale and Barrett struggled the following season in comparison and Barrett’s development halted almost entirely after that.

Then Herman goes to Houston and Ward improves dramatically in his two years under Herman.

Finally, Burrow got absolutely no coaching from Herman who left before he arrived, so please stop with the Meyer coaches up QB.

Eh. I guess what you’re saying is that UM isn’t the one directly developing these guys.
But I’ll counter by saying UM seems pretty good at hiring coordinators who can develop them.

Shut up, compared to any recent coach (looking at you St. Les) at at LSU the man is QB coaching god.

At the end of the day he has 3 years under his belt as opposed to 1 year with our younger guys

Either he's good enough to start over them and McMillan or he isn't. We'll find out. Competition is good.

Any opinion other than this is flawed.

Meyer, Mullin, Herman...

What do they all have in common?

They aren't Slinger Steve.

Burrow isn't gonna know what to do with all the moves Slinger is about to show him.

Other than Prescott, it's not as if Mullen rolled out a "who's-who" of QB's at MSU. At minimum, it appears Meyer has a pretty good eye for identifying QB talent since he's had success at 3 different schools. Certainly, we can say he's had a better eye for talent than anyone at LSU over the last decade since the last QB's of note that LSU signed as Freshman were Russell and Flynn.

It's silly to predict with any certainty that Burrow is going step in and be an All-SEC player. However, it's equally as silly to assume Meyer had NOTHING to do with multiple years of solid QB play at three different schools.

Tell me the last time an Urban Meyer team had poor QB play. I’ll wait. Your argument is as dumb as saying Saban isn’t a great defensive coach because he has always had good coordinators. It doesnt hold water. Urban Meyer has ALWAYS had competent QB play regardless of what team he coached, regardless of what coordinators or coaches he had on staff. You can call it a “myth” all day long but statistics and facts say quite the opposite.

Barrett became one of the most prolific QBs in Big Ten history.

I don't know where you came up with his development hitting a wall after Herman left.

Meyers specialty was defense and special teams. He surrounded his staff with spread up-tempo offensive minds. Hes not jimbo Fisher.

Interesting but if you had seen any of Burrow's interviews, he doesn't talk about Meyer being his QB coach. He credits others on OSU's staff for improving his delivery, footwork etc.
Look at the kids tape. He throws a nice ball.
Regardless, go pee in someone else cornflakes, preferably your own.

good lord, man. Meyer hired the OCs that developed the QBs. That's what head coaches do. And I'm sure he was also involved with setting the offensive philosophy.

The top dog at any organization is responsible for hiring the right people, setting the direction, giving them the tools and resources to be successful, and holding them accountable. The fact that Meyer has had multiple OCs who got excellent QB play is an indication that Meyer is doing something right.

Sorry, but Meyer gets full credit.

Meyer coached on offense (QB/WR) for 11 years before he was a head coach. He coached a defensive unit for 1 year before all of that. I would say he's an offensive guy.
