Yea fine.. I’m bitter.
$5,000 out of pocket tuition and the state foots that and then some per student? Then get to be selective on admissions too?? Nice work if you can get it I guess. Like any good government racket, more government money for gifted, learning differences, etc., so the more the merrier. Oh, and a few athletes here and there, huh?
And you wonder what the word “select” means?

Your child was unworthy.

Have another and try again.

Why yes you are.

You need some Boudreaux’s butt paste for how chapped your arse is? I appreciate the great academics and athletics and small class sizes my kids enjoyed. And that my granddaughter will experience starting next year.

This is "school choice", and this why I oppose school choice.....but this is the wrong board.

You link to the minimum foundation program and suggest a state school should reject it?

Why weren't you more careful crafting your screen last name, John?

U-High is a Lab school for the LSU College of Education. It is doing, and has done, what it is supposed to do as part of educating future educators at every level.

Now this is a very quality and interesting response. Really makes a taxpayer want to dive in to the state mission of why a lab school was created in the first place. Was your response it? What do Lab schools have to do to earn these state subsidies? Would love to hear this bantered about in the halls of the capitol before that 8.5 million dollars gets cut from the state. Are athletics part of that mission?

Right because we all know the government should choose where a family send kids to school.

The tuition goes towards scholarships for the top players from the hood, so your son gets less playing time. It’s insanity.

Alumni are not driving this.

U-High’s athletics are great because they recruit people. Before that they were just your average high school. If they stopped recruiting they would go right back to average. They are K-12, but it’s funny how all those athletes never start in kindergarten.

And are the academics actually “great”? There are behind St. Joe, Catholic, Episcopal, and Baton Rouge High. Possibly behind Dunham.

I will say it’s a great bang for you buck.

My kids both got plenty of playing time.

They aren’t from the hood, although in Baton Rouge these days it’s sort of hard to tell.

IDK about academics, but you rub elbows with the right sort of people while paying a lot less than you would at those other schools. As others have said, it's quite the bargain if you can get in by hook or by crook.

I don't remember spending much time there when I was in the College of Education. Spent much more time in the public schools observing & student teaching at Broadmoor HS.

So you’re that guy. Every school “recruits”. The Lab school is a terrific place to be for the students and families fortunate enough to get in. The Lab student body demographic used to match the percentage demographic of the greater area. So in your opinion kids from “the hood” shouldn’t be allowed to attend? Is that what you are saying?

I think it’s obvious. His kid(s) didn’t get in.
