Macon Telegraph

This may be one of the major keys for us breaking the game open. Same thing happened in 2011. They're looking at a walk-on taking over the long snapper duties. Miss St is the only other team in SEC that doesn't have a dedicated ST Coordinator

Special teams are a third of the game. Why would you not have a dedicated coordinator overseeing them?

I don't get it either. This may be the key for us blowing the game open, just like in 2011. I just can't fathom WTF Richt is thinking.

To be completely honest, I am more worried about our own ST. It seems our punter has shanked at least 1 punt in every game. Hasnt been talked about much here on the rant, but in our first big test on the road, he needs to be on his game. That could def make a huge difference between a win and a loss.

[quote]Now here comes LSU, which historically has had outstanding special teams. But Georgia’s players said there wasn’t any more time spent on special teams this week, because enough attention is already paid to them. And coaches say they’re being careful not to overreact to the most recent problem.Read more here: LINK ]

What makes it huge for us Is a punt return for a TD and we have full momentum that usually carries us the rest of the way.

I guess it's not a coincidence that Blake Ferguson, brother of current Tiger, Reid, also the #1 LS in the country, committed to us a week or so ago, is from Georgia.

We are #9 in the nation in punt return defense and #1 in the SEC. Although our punter is averaging 40 yards a punt (not awesome) it's still good enough.

and.. Georgia has the #1 punter in the league. THey probably will be ok in that department.

Jamie K had 3 punts Inside the 15 yard line last weekend. I'd say that's pretty decent

What a dumbass. Does he realize that they gave up a 99 yard return for TD and a blocked punt for TD last week to north tx? If that happens against us they will not win the game!

Apparently not. Or the botched hold on the FG @ Clemson. LSU fans would be losing our minds if we had no ST coach and we had those issues.

I'm calling it now. Long snapper will put one over the punter/holder's head tomorrow.

As a Georgia fan, this is my #1 concern this week. Last week ST made what should have been a blowout, well, not quite a blowout. LSU has recently had our number on ST as it is. We have to rely on Murray, Gurley, and the crowd to insure us against our own ST.
