Just watched highlights from the UCLA game yesterday.

The first thing that jumped out at me is how absolutely horrible Hawaii was at tackling. They took bad angles all day, and when they did take the correct angle they just whiffed on bunches of tackles.

The second thing is the Bruins sure like to blitz. Our O-line had better be ready.

The third thing is UCLA got a bunch of points off Hawaii mistakes.

Also, that QB threw several balls that were completions against Hawaii that will be a PBU or a pick against Sting and Ricks.

Take care of the ball, have solid tackling and keep Max/Nuss upright and we win going away.

I watched the whole game. UCLA is a very good team except for one spot. The QB. And that's a really bad spot to be weak.

UCLA QB will have less than 100yrds passing, DL will eat and DBs will feast. 38 to 14

It’s hard to tell because Hawaii is so bad. I was impressed with the UCLA rb’s though. Linebackers will have to tackle well.

Their O-line and RBs seem to be working well together although it’s hard for me to gauge how well this will translate against a better defensive line. I’m going to make a leap and say we will be able to slow down their run enough to require their QB to have to throw the ball. And it doesn’t appear to me from watching the game that he is a significant threat throwing the ball.

On the defensive side, their game seems to be the quick pressure and jumping the hot routes. How our guys deal with that will determine our potential for success.

I’m feeling good about our chances but, as they say, “the horses have to go around the track.”

Definitely good we had one game to analyze. Seems like a stronger team than last year.

Dagburnit Ernest T., why you gotta be that way.

Unfortunately you are absolutely right. DTR can be very good. And very bad. Not sure which one will show. He needs to keep the D honest or the Bruin run game will never get going. We shall see.

I felt like UCLA blocked exceptionally well despite the fact that Hawaii’s D line was not very good. Their 2 backs ran the ball very well, showing good vision and speed. But their QB? He’s just not very good, his accuracy definitely left something to be desired. If the Tigers get good penetration on the line forcing him to have to throw, set the edge, fill gaps and tackle then our guys should have no problem with that offense

Rotating 10 to 12 defensive lineman will wear them out. By mid third quarter UCLA’s OL will be staggering to the line with hands on their hips.

How does chip Kelly not have a good QB? He’s had 4 years and this is the best he’s got?

No kidding. Their QB seems more of an athlete than an actual QB.

Just contain him and he won't beat us.
