Troy Polamalu wishes he was Tyrann Mathieu.

He may not run the fastest 40 but I bet he has one of the top shuttle and 3 come times. Dude get to his top speed really quick

Too soon to tell. I've seen so many guys who looked unstoppable in college but couldn't quite make it in the pros.
An example is Josh Reed. He was catching balls in double, triple coverage at LSU and yet ended up having a very quiet career as a 3rd WR and backup in the NFL. Sometimes, the skills translate and sometimes they just don't.
So as far as I'm concerned, jury is out on all these guys until they play at the next level. I sure hope they succeed.

TM7 is nothing like TP. Where you people come up with this crap is amazing.

troy polamalu and bob sanders both did well in the 40, shuttle, and 3 cone. sanders/troy were really fast with the ability to get to top speed. i don't think TM7 is that fast (for a CB, obviously)

He actually reminds me a lot of frank minnefield who starred for the browns for many years

Troy is more of a big hit guy especially since he is a safety. True they both have an incredible sense for the ball and seem to be in on every play. But Polamalu roams around a hell of a lot more and doesnt go strip first, looks for the big hit instead then he tries to take the ball if its a gang tackle.

Tyrann Mathieu is the first Tyrann Mathieu

quote:Size-wise maybe, but not how they play. Sanders is more of a tackle machine rather than a playmaking, havoc-wreaking turnover monster like Mathieu. Sanders only has 4 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 6 interceptions in his NFL career. While not a perfect comparison, I think Polamalu is the closest fit. Ed Reed tends to be more of a centerfielder, while Polamalu is moved around more and makes more plays around the line of scrimmage like Mathieu.
he's more like bob sanders

but Polamalu always has that "presence" on the field..just seems to be in on every play..
He misses a lot of plays too.
