Not to take anything away from our solid D, but it's ULM and Sam Houston.

Come on now.

Answer this Question when is the last time we had TWO shutouts in a row. We played some cupcakes in 2011 and did not have ONE!

1985.

Last time the two were back to back at home was in 1941.

What's weird is at the end of games when Jamal Adams and crew come in I think of the Chinese bandits for some odd reason.

Weren't the Chinese Bandits the second stringers there were used to come in fresh off the bench in tight spots? Therefore I don't think your analogy was very good.

Let's get a grip, folks.....it was Sam Houston St. and ULM, not Auburn and 'Bama....I'm waiting for the SEC competition before I pass any judgment on this team....

Not really. They were actually the third string.

The White Team were the starters - best players on offense and defense (i.e. Billy Cannon). The Go (originally "Gold") team were short yardage specialists - technically the second team offense. The Bandits were put in the game on defense to spell the White team - although it was Mac's defense and the Bandits were his favorites, Dietzel wanted the White team on the field with the game on the line.

The famous goal line stand against Ole Miss in 1959 (after the Cannon return) had Warren Rabb and Billy Cannon tackle Doug Elmore at the goal line with time expiring.

Apparently it is the first time we have had back to back shutouts at home since the 40's.

Even though we are playing cupcakes

1. we have back to back cupcakes before since 1940
2. We are playing spread offenses that are suppose to put up a ton of points, so even when outmatched to keep them from even getting into field goal range is pretty good.

Its true they played cupcakes, but they really did look good; not so much like the Chinese Bandits, more like the Great Wall of China: nobody got past them.

Note that LSU has scored the last 108 points versus their opponents. That's damn good no matter who the opponents are.

Very nice indeed.

As for the cupcake crap... This is still a huge accomplishment for such a young defense that is depleted at the DT position. Any time a Les Miles defense pitches a shut out the players on the field for the last couple of drives are 2nd and 3rd stringers against the opponent's starters playing to avoid those goose eggs.

Maybe not Chinese Bandits, but given LSU's recent penchant allowing at least a modest amount of points and yards to lower tier teams, the last couple of weeks may be somewhat of a foreshadowing of this defense's mettle.
