You'll have some trashy arse, backwoods rednecks try to start sht, but other than it isn't terrible. Now if Alabama loses, prepare to have death threats. When LSU won in 2011, some like 50 year old guy tried to fight my little cousin after the game. SHE was like 13 at the time.
While they are yelling "role todd" at you, just politely ask who Todd is and they typically go away. Also, be prepared to answer why corn dogs are delicious. They seem to think that we eat corn dogs for every meal and know the history of the corn dog industry.
And dont waste your time eating at the super overrated dreamland bbq.
Should be a fun trip, this will be my first time not making the trip since I was like 5.

T-town is nice. Been there 4 times and great atmosphere and fans. My favorite road trip other than the fact that they usually win.

I went in 2007. Way up in nosebleeds. Fans were arrogant, but polite. After the game, one of them told us that we were going to win it all.
I remember that they mix their drinks in the bathroom stalls... using the little airline bottles of liquor. What's up with that?

Alabama's worst fans tend to have almost always never attended the University, and virtually none of them step foot on campus for premier games.
With the student body having been 50% or more out-of-state for almost a decade now, you're getting a newer set of alumni who - love the team, but, it isn't their life. A lot different than schools where the students all grew up in-state, live and breathe the school fight song, go to school there, and spend their last nickel to go to games until death do they part.
The one thing you'll notice now is (especially if it's been 4+ years since you've gone back), the talent on campus is out-of-this world. You've got girls from Dallas, Houston, LA, NYC, Chicago, Atlanta, etc... looking to become insta-famous like the bachlorette chick. If you're single for the weekend, you'll have a good time even if Burrow's leg exploded.
Bars to go to Friday night:
- Gallette's (remodeled, and wayyy more spacious)
- Innisfree (Great outdoor patio)
- The Booth (If you like drugs)
- Rounders (If you're trying to rage with out-of-state girls)
- Red Shed (more laid back, good beer drinking bar)
Food Spots:
- Archibald's
- Original Dreamland on Old Jug Factory Rd (not the commercial wannabe in Northport)
- Sweet home Food Bar (one of my favorites, often overlooked)
- Avenue Pub
- Chuck's
- Rama Jama's (not on gameday - it's a build your own burger type deal)
- Waysider for your Sunday hangover
Saturday, if you don't go to a tailgate:
- Go get some food in your belly at the big-bad-wolf pop-up, and park at Rounders, Gallettes, or Bear Trap. All within the shadow of Bryant-Denny on the strip. Fun atmosphere at all places. I've gotten so wrapped up in the moment in the back room of Gallettes, that I've scrambled to make kick-off multiple times. Do NOT go to Houndstooth. For whatever reason, that place is where the small sliver of townies and gumps hang out, and they just like to sit there and chat tin-foil message board rumors with their fat bellies and houndstooth hats. They don't like visitors. You wouldn't want to go anyways; it's like Bear Bryant's ghost knocked up Buffalo Wild Wings.
Echoing what most say here - as long as you're there to have fun and party, you're going to have an incredible time. The only school I've ever seen anyone be hostile to is Auburn and Georgia (moreso because that's the biggest douche hat fanbase in the SEC. Would be #1 if Ohio St. didn't exist).
If you win, the town will be absolutely dead an hour after the game, so, pick any bar and make it your own. If you lose, pick any bar you want. I'm telling you - the winning has kinda made us nonchalant, so I'd bet dollars to cents you'd get a beer bought for you.
Enjoy the visit, and RTR.

Florida has the most arrogant fans in the SEC....its a shame because GAINESVILLE is a cool town otherwise...

LSU fans are the best.
You guys are way better than Auburn, Georgia and Florida fans
Have a fun time in town.

I’ve heard they shut all the bars down after we won in 2011. Any truth to that?

Why would you even mention that open sepulchre when Orange Beach, the pearl of the Gulf, is only 5 miles down the road?

I've ben a few times. Had great experiences every time. I'm not a jackass. So, if you cheer for your team and not just a flaming a-hole, they will treat you well.

You do know Updyke was from Louisiana.

You can expect Bama fans to be much more nervous than in previous years.

Mostly just ignore you before and during the game.
They did have a few mouth-breathers constantly looking for a fight after we beat them in 2011.
They ended up fighting with each other when we weren't interested in an altercation.
In light of the Bama fan being arrested for Attempted Murder for shooting someone after the Bama Loss Saturday night.
Noone deserves to be shot over a football game.

Uh, nooooooo.
Harvey Updyke was born in south Texas and was 3 years old when his dad was killed by a drunk driver. His mom met a man, and they all moved from Texas to Milton, Fla.. where he later graduated from Milton High School. He later returned to Texas and became a State Trooper there. [quote]kkv75

It's actually a pretty good set up they have there. Park car off University Street. Walk down University Street. Stop off at any number of restaurants and bars on University Street. Resume walking on University street. Boom. Stadium.
