Had a kid making his first start of the year. Complete game shutout with well over 100 pitches. The plan for a starter can always be amended when said starter is cruising, expected or not. So CPM/Dunn, please don't pull Cartwright after X number of innings/pitches tonight if he is cruising.

I also wonder what effect the delay had on him. Could have tightened up

One example of a guy making his first start means nothing to the Bouman decision.

Bump for those still defending Mainieri's Sunday decision. I guess TTU's coaches are just hacks, though.

Didn't say he should have taken him out. I said I understand why he did it. If you can't understand why he did it you're a moron. Does that make it right it right? No. But it also doesn't make it wrong. Leaving in McCune too long cost us the game. Not taking out Bouman.

Did you read my post close to the end of pg. 8 in the other thread. Having not ever given him a chance gave CPM an easy out to pull him and you an easy defense in "understanding" why he did it.

There were quite a few similar stories throughout the regionals. Bama had guys go back to back complete games. Freshman in the aTm/Texas matchup threw over 130 pitches in a CG allowing only 2 runs.

Putting a massive amount of risk on those young arms. To be honest, it's disgusting that situations like that are allowed.

I certainly wouldn't have wanted Bouman to throw 130+ pitches. Being pulled with 60+ having given up only two hits at that point in the game is inexcusable.

Do you know anything about the pitcher who threw 130 pitches? All pitchers arms react differently....if the guy was a soft thrower....no big deal....if he's a fireballer...different story.

130 pitches in a competitive environment is irresponsible, no matter how hard the kid pitches.

Ok, you obviously don't know shite about pitching. Did you ever pitch/coach on a competitive level? Are you a licensed orthopedist?

Ok, lets mark down the fallacies by line.

Ad hominem.

Strawman

Fwiw, I listen to the Keith Laws of the world and various other outlets that have the knowledge you seek.

Tommy John usage has been on the rise because of the increased usage of pitchers at the early stages of their careers.
