I've posted this a couple times before. However, with the recent but belated acknowledgemnt of TM7 as one of the top playmakers in CFB, I thought I'd re-post.

Tyrann's parents were the 100th year (centennial) King & Queen of Zulu in 2009.

Video Interview

I work with his RN mother, Sheila, inside of East Jefferson Hospital. For some reason, we have never called her anything but "Queenie" since.

Technically, they are not his biological parents. Tyrann moved into his uncle Tyrone's house when he was 4 y/o. But just like Shaq, Tyrann only recognizes the ones that raised him as his parents.

Yeah, the bloodline is a stretch, but so is Royalty & King of a Parade.

But at least, they really do have some of the same family DNA, so the bloodlines would be more relevant.

what does it take to be royalty in a parade? I've never actually read into it. Are you just voted or is it deeper than that.

I sat next to them at the MSU game. Talked to his dad for most of the game and both of them after. Some of te nicest people I've met and seem like really good people.

First of all, you have to be a member of a Krewe (or club).

Then, to be King of Rex, for instance, you have to be involved in all kinds of charities & community services to qualify. Then you have to pay something like $50,000 to be King and then don't get recognized until the day before.

For Zulu, it's more of poularity campaign, just like a political election with a straight up member vote. Video of 2009 Zulu election.

From what I understand, the Mathieu's didn't have to pay to be King & Queen, and the club did pay for a shitload of travel appearances at Balls & Events across the South from here to Atlanta, but Queenie did say they spent a bundle on outfits & gowns.

does not compute.

no way you produce that beast without tying him up in a burlap sack and beating him with a mop handle.
