Palmer is that good. He can definitely compete with the best that LSU has. Lee is a different story. He's a different kind of athlete he's going to be good no matter where you put him. I'm still holding out hope that he plays defense.

As he matures I would expect him to put on muscle which will help coming out of the gates. He has an extra gear for sure. I think he will be the steal of the class. There definitely weren’t thirty better receivers than him last year. By the time he gets to the combine I would expect a 4.40 maybe even 4.3s.

I'm hoping they don't put him on D. He's on Palmer's level as a WR, IMO. Different style, for sure. Lee goes after the football like Charles Barkley went after rebounds - that's HIS damn ball!!

He's probably not even the best athlete in the class. That goes to Marcel Brooks. His highlights are sick.

And Lee recorded a faster 40 than Trey - 4.41. Obviously, Trey would walk away from Lee from 40 yards and beyond, but Lee can move.

Imagine that on the defensive side of the ball with his athletic ability. He could be a monster of a safety. Also if he could put on 30 pounds or so what kind of linebacker he could be.

I'm a WR freak - so that sounds like heresy to me. I see him as the guy who will fight like hell and get that key 3rd down pretty much every time he gets a chance. (but he seems like the kind of competitor who just wants to do what's best for the team)

Reggie Bush ran a 10.42 100m in HS, then ran a 4.33 forty at his Pro Day.

Devin Hester also ran a 10.42 100m, but ran a 4.41 at the NFL Combine.

Those sub-4.5 numbers should translate similarly for Trey Palmer, but yet his 247 profile page says he ran a 4.51 forty laser-timed at the Opening.

Trey's forty is the same as 240lbs Leonard Fournette's 4.51 at the NFL combine who ran a 10.68 100m in HS Class 4A Regional.

I gotta figure Palmer is normally sub 4.5.

What it means is guys like Bush and Hester hit top end speed quick. Palmer is a guy who continues to accelerate over a longer distance.

That should translate well for getting separation on longer routes.

Definately.

And, he also gets free fast and easy on short routes. Has moves I haven't seen since Percy Harvin.

That's a shame Lee is one of the best WR on team already because he may well be moved to defense at some point.

I realize he may have a 4.41 time floating around on the internet, but I'm skeptical of that being a legit time.

If he was legit 6-2 212 with a 4.41 he woulda been a Top 50 rated player nationally.

My concern with Lee will be can he get separation from SEC level db's.

I do agree that Palmer could be impactful in the slot as a freshman if he can pick things up quickly. He's more talented than Dillon, Giles, etc.

Then again we obviously have a different passing attack now, so I'm not quite sure who will play where. Chase may well be in the slot a lot.

Wasn't Lee a five star or high 4 star?

Lee was highly rated coming out. He could work out as a WR or on defense because he has that mentality that he'll do whatever it takes to win. His mindset coupled with his athletic ability is why I say he would thrive on the defensive side of the ball

247 Composite: 4 star 93 rating and #166 overall
247: 4 star 92 rating and #189 overall

247 staff gave an NFL evaluation and compared him to Lber Alex Anzalone.

This young man is ready to play some SEC football

From "Texas Longhorn Recruiting":
quote:

"At 6’2, 212 pounds, Lee employs a physical style of play, while also flashing a 4.41 40-yard dash."
