at people questioning his talent. He became the starter at CB Week 3 of his true freshman year and been a damn good player since then. How many true freshman CBs start from pretty much day 1 and hold down that spot their entire career at "DBU"? Very few. And all of them are extremely talented. You wouldn't be able to do that if you didn't have a lot of talent and ability.

He's had the lowest burn rates in CFB in 2014 and 2015. And he's played his best football this season. That's saying something.

Sure, he's been beat before and has some bad film. Guess what? All CBs do. They all get beat. It happens. But Tre White does not get beat often. He had a horrible game at Arky. I'll give you that. But I don't remember him ever struggling that bad his entire career. It's an outlier.

People say he got worked vs Treadwell. Treadwell had 4recs on 8 targets for 58yards. That's not getting worked at all. And Treadwell was a 1st round pick. It just so happens that 1 of his catches was a TD and that's all people remember. He did a damn good job vs Cooper as well. According to PFF, he's only given up 24recs this year and has 11PBUs with 2 INTs. And as of a few weeks ago, he only had 2 missed tackles this season(IMO his biggest improvement from last year).

I see Tre White going mid to late 1st in the draft. He's a very polished CB and his skill set translate very well to the NFL. He's a very natural and fluid CB who is always in a good position and rarely makes a mistake, smart player. While hes not the biggest CB, he's got extremely long arms and is a lot stronger than his build suggests. He plays bigger than he is and will compete against anyone, regardless of size. And it's not like he's a small CB, he's got good size. He's just not a huge CB. Not worried about his size at all.

At worst, he's the starting CB2 in the nfl. Also think he's versatile enough to play some nickel and even some safety at times, depending on some matchups and opponents game plan. Might not ever be a star, but he's gonna be a damn good player in the NFL for a long time.

It's cause he is projected as a slot corner and they just aren't valued as high in the draft. I'm not saying that I agree with that or that it is right but it is why he doesn't have the hype. I personally really like him as a pro prospect and hope he ends up on the Saints.

Let the downvotes come in, but imo Tre is late second/early third round pick. He is a polished DB who can play multiple positions, but his measurables arnt anything spectactular. The only CB's that go first round are the true lock down guys who can shut down big time recievers. Tre just isnt that. However, the team that does pick him is going to get a heck of a value player, like the Eagles with Jalen Mills

NFL teams love measurables and sometimes ignore players or Overhype players because of them. As it stands, he's probably a second round corner. He can play man or zone which will help him, but he'll have to learn to be more physical with big NFL wideouts(in fairness, there are times he has been very physical. Example:the last pass Prescott threw in the 2015 matchup was to the big bodied 6'5" receiver and White out fought him)

I mean they undersell a lot of players. It's not like scouting is a perfect science. Same can be said with recruiting. Some guys don't pan out and some guys turn out better than expected. That wasn't really the point of my post, though. The point was Collins and White are not really comparable. White is a bit smaller but more polished technique wise. Scouts fell in love with Collins' measurables, athleticism, and his potential but the overall consensus on him going into the draft was that he was raw and would be a project. The scotuing report on White is quite the contrary. He's is much more pro ready than Collins was. The questions surrounding him have to do whether he can physically match up with NFL WRs to be a CB1 in the league.

They may be drafted around the same spot in the draft but for two completely different reasons.

The one guy he compares to favorably is Joe Haden. Skill Haden is slightly superior at this point before the draft. But, their measurables should play out to be very similar, remember Haden's combine and pro day numbers were not upper class for a cornerback.

No way he returns punts in the NFL. He gives too many heart attacks on return decisions.
Now that said I think Tre is going to have a tremendous combine and really boost his draft stock. He's got really loose hips and he's so fluid with great ball skills. Sure he got beat a couple times but White has played 90% of the snaps since the day he stepped on campus...that's going to result in getting beat at some point.

Bottom line is he's done a fantastic job in the SEC and is going to put up great numbers at the combine. The only issue is the deep DB class this year, but he will have a long and rich NFL career

Eta: don't discount his intangibles. The guy is smart, works hard, and is a great leader. Hes going to say all the right things in his interviews. And I know anyone who's coached or played with him will vouch for that which is going to mean something to GM's. Consider it the opposite of the Sam montgomery effect.
