The first thing to do is name Brandon Harris your starter by mid-spring. Ok make him work for it...but let's not kid ourselves. If he isn't juiced and ready to lead, then the misery continues for at least 2 more seasons and Mr Miles is out of a job....

This Cat needs to be the Cat...Set him free...!!!!

When the season rolls around and hit live action, the game plan must be to get Harris comfortable in the passing game. Show him you trust him with the ball...Fling it! Zone reads, rolls outs...TE passes, Full back passes...get it on! Get the ball out quickly.

Once he gets his swag on and his head is clear and is running the offense and just "playing" football...versus being paralyzed in doubt "What do I do next?"

I think we will have an exciting season unfold because the kid is super talented.. We all have seen the zip on the ball and his quick feet and running ability. It's time to let him do this thing.. It's why we recruited him.

Get him comfortable and get him confidence...

Bottom line, name him the starter early and get on with being more aggressive passing the football to complement our great run game.

You want change? You want the misery behind you?

You must do something different!

if the young QB's aren't ready to take snaps from under center, then let them play in shot gun..

Urban Meyer just showed the country how it's done at this level with 3 QB's in a single season.

Develop an SEC caliber QB-not a Heisman contender, a functional SEC level QB
Develop an offense that plays into the strengths of the starting QB & the athletes around him

Don't think you've got much to worry about there.

I agree; at the latest mid Spring. Harris needs 80% of snaps with first team. He has to grow but this isn't all on the staff; Harris has to put in the time learning as well.

Top priority for Miles is to win games.i dont care if we throw for 100 yards every game of we win.
Neither should you.

Yep all we need is a simple offense and a 3rd string qb thats 250 and has a rocket. There is a reason no one thought Ohio state could beat bama or oregon, its because finding a great 3rd string qb is unheard of.

The first thing you do is hand Jennings a clipboard and tell him to get used to holding it.

With his limited skill set, he received an opportunity most would never receive. He had 14 starts (chances) and couldn't get the job done. Project over...time to move on.

Imagine how much easier is would be to currently recruit if targets had confidence in our offense. I would love to see what our running game could accomplish if we had even a half decent QB.

be more accurate throwing the football, so that throwing is a viable option.

So Cardale Jones succeeded because he was named the starter early and became comfortable? Maybe Jones was successful because he learned the playbook like a starter and was prepared and didn't go 3 of 14 in a big game.

I am all for Harris playing and am excited about his potential but certainly don't think he should be handed the starter job no matter what, what does that say to the rest of the team.

Good points IF Harris shows he knows the playbook 7 can execute....& that's takes work off the field& dedication. If anyone thinks either JT Barrett or Cardale Jones stepped in for Urban without knowing the playbook first them you are delusional.

I would bet the house Les does not do this.

I think you are correct by the way.

I more or less agree with MoreOrLes. Miles will say the competition will continue into fall camp after the spring is my guess.

Disagree...he's young and clearly is still learning what hard work and leadership really means....you don't announce him as the starter until after summer camp. He needs to stay hungry and know it's a competition

This is absolutely stupid. You do what will make BH work the hardest, and I doubt naming him the starter 6 months ahead of time will make him work harder.

For what it's worth I think they should have went after a JUCO QB Daniel Fitzwater would have been a good choice. Not saying that would be the answer, but at least it's a opportunity.

This was his 3rd year at OSU, I'd think he had plenty of time to learn the playbook.

I'm surprised that more people don't understand this.

Ulitmately Miles will go with Harris if it comes to his job being on the line. It's just a matter of when. But I think it's imperative to instill in the kid that he had to work for the job and that he's going to have to work to keep it. Otherwise why would he have any incentive to get better?

This whole thing is about Harris. AJ is just a pawn in the whole situation. Miles is doing the best thing for BH's maturity by trying to light a fire under his arse. If he's a competitor he'll rise to the challenge. If he gives up and paints himself as a victim, then he's a loser and we dodged a bullet.
