Too much attention on the QB's...the main issue the last two games is defense...

Specifically, third down defense. Georgia was 7 of 13 on third down...Texas A&M was 10 of 15. Two really bad defensive performances that were not expected.

Why do you think our defense sputtered down the stretch?

To play devils advocate with you. As I agree the defense looked sub par the last two games. They also won us a few games. They won us the game against ole miss and arky. When you look at depth here you can tell we got gassed. Uga was able to substitute a good solid chunk of their players in the game and we literally don’t have the depth to rotate or sub guys.

To your point the defense looked horrible against fsu, tenn, tamu and uga. I go back to just a depth issue. I’m not a fan of the scheme tbh, but when you don’t have depth it doesn’t matter what scheme you run, it’s not gonna be a stellar performance everytime you run out on the field.

Chicken, thanks for asking.

I think the defense got tired. Weeks 12 and 13 and playing 4 or 5 defensive lineman takes its toll. Having 2 CBs all season takes its toll.

Bad safety play, no depth on defensive line, failure to set edge on run plays and texas a&m and georgia have neutralized Harold Perkins.

I don’t feel like we had great designed blitz packages. We just blitzed and hoped the talent alone would get to the QB.

Defense had no legs because of depth.

Chicken, great question. Astute observation really.

I think our lack of depth catches up to us against these teams that just pound us with huge offensive lines.

Thanks for posting

Matchup

A&M lineup with TEs and decides to run the ball down our throats.

No one before them had the talent or scheme to do that.

We’re much better equipped to tackle in space when spread out vs get between the tackles.

Also it puts pressure on our LB and makes Perkins play coverage.

Defense is playing their best possible football. They have ZERO rotation. There's no mystery to discuss.

Run defense has been a huge problem. It manifests itself on third down because a consistent rushing attack puts you in manageable third down situations.

I think lack of depth on the DL is a big contributing factor. I’d be curious to see the snap counts for Roy, Guillory, Gaye, and Ojulari.

ETA: 5.8 ypc to UGA and 5.5 ypc to A&M. Hard to win football games when you’re getting gashed like that on the ground.

I think LSU was too thin versus TAMU and they just don’t have good cover people. When the ball gets out quick it neutralized the rush. TAMU had a full roster that was far more talented than LSU. That same roster played a ton of games with terrible QBs before Weigman got healthy and then he got hurt again and they had 20-30 players out with the flu the 3 pervious games and Achane out a couple games including versus UMASS the week before. If you don’t watch them like I do because of being in Houston, you really couldn’t see how close they were to really good teams like Ole Miss. Everyone look at them versus UF where ACHANE was injured and left the game in the 3Q and the score was 27-24.

That TAMU team with King players Bama to 4 points.

They figured out how to get #40 off the qb. We need to figure out how to put him back on the qb.

Once again you are wrong. How did we play against Ole miss? Bama also didn't have Young. 4$8's O line was awful all year at running the ball. LSU simply didn't come to play.

chicken seems to be always the smartest guy in the room. Everyone going crazy how well Nuss was doing but Jayden was craving them up too before he got hurt.

Lack of numbers. Even Danielson commented about the wear on the D as the game went on.

Who can name the 5-6 best DTs on the roster? I can’t.
