To the Wade haters

Lurking on here I see a lot of people melt about Wade not being able to coach name your side of the ball. Well in this graph from T-rank, basically a free version of Kenpom, we see from Wade's first season on (season ending 2018) the offense was already better than any Tiger team in a decade and just got better from there having the 10th, 4th, and 5th best adjusted offensive efficiency numbers in the country for 2019-2021.
Sure, the offense is closer to average this season (the red line is the average for div 1), but look at the defensive numbers in the next graph! We went from being average at best defensively most years to having a top 5 defense in the country!
Wade said it in the press conference where he couldn't remember how old he was, that he was still trying to figure the balance out between offense and defense, and you got to think that having a Miller this year would have provided some more of that balance.
TLDR; We are lucky to have the program back to relevancy, and it is only looking up from here! Boot up!

I love Will Wade but this team royally pisses me off to the point that they aren’t even fun to watch anymore which sucks. At this point it’s like we are actively trying to miss the NCAAT and we need to get our shite together because we have another brutal stretch to end conference play.
ETA: I’m not shitting on the team and I still have faith in them, but please someone tell me when the last entertaining game was because I haven’t enjoyed a single one of our games since Tennessee in the PMAC. Sorry I don’t find enjoyment in watching us scrape by Mississippi State and lose to Ole Miss.

The program as a whole is fine, Wade has got us to the point where we will probably be a second round team more likely than not (Hell this team was suppose to be "rebuilding" and lost its best guard before the season) which should always be goal one.
Now we need to keep going in the right direction which mean's Wade needs to keep bringing in solid players, the current players need to continue to get better and Wade needs to continue to improve as a coach. Programs don't get built over night but they can disappear that quick

In basketball it is all about the players. Their abilities, attitudes, experience, decision making and chemistry.
We desperately need a point guard for next season. Right now Gaines is penciled in as the starter with Williams the back up. This will not do. Gaines is effective off the bench as an energy guy to lead the press. Williams can perhaps develop a jump shot and score. Neither is a point guard.
Wade needs to come up with a big winner here or we will be doomed to another sloppy team that turns the ball over a lot. Probably not a great season either.

Anyone who doesn't like Wade is an idiot. Maybe we should rehire Trent Johnson or Johnny Jones.
Do you people realize how good the SEC is in basketball?

quote:not necessarily.
In basketball it is all about the players.
In 1989-90, Dale Brown had Chris Jackson, Shaq, Stanley Roberts, Vernell Singleton, Maurice Williamson, Wayne Sims, and other very solid role players. That's about as loaded as you're going to get, and Dale still only went 12-6 in the SEC, lost in the 1st round of the SEC tourney, and lost in the second round of the Dance.
Coaching matters. A lot.

Too many stars and only one ball to go around. Also foul trouble negated Shaq and Roberts in a lot of games. In fact I would say Roberts had a fairly mediocre season and never played close to his potential.

Coaching obviously has it's place and is necessary but every big program has a full staff and consultants to coach up a team. It is still mostly about players and recruiting.

These Wade apologist threads are beyond pathetic

I thinks it’s stupid to be a Wade hater. He’s made LSU consistently competitive. However, this team has underachieved despite the injuries. They’ve dropped at least 3 games they had no business losing.
