There's a little truth to this. And LSU is not getting the love they deserve, unfair but it is what it is. We cant afford to lose this game because of this.
But the real reason they want to play A&M is because they know they are much easier to beat. With JF they do have a little more national press this year only. It would be a bigger win for them and could propel their program. The Big 10 is waiting on team 2 to rise up against OSU, why not Iowa?
Its just like I would rather play Michigan, easier to beat and a historical victory over a Top 5 all time program.
But lets not kid ourselves beating LSU is much better than beating Iowa.
We have more to lose than gain here unlike them.

So you are telling me that Iowa has a football team? Well I say horseshite

The sunshine pumpers are building this up as an excuse. So if we lose they can make an excuse saying we did not care about the game and didn't get up for the game.

I live in PAC 12 country and without a doubt, LSU is a nationally known power. Iowa has nowhere near the brand that LSU has.

Iowa isn't even a pimple on the arse of relevant college football. LSU is a big name program, they are a no name program.

Who cares who they are. They are on the other side of the ball. If they arent good enough coaches and players need to prove it like against ga tech. Not clemson or penn st. Step on their throats take the ball run up the score shut them out. Time this team loses all compassion no close games run it like a military les miles without a geneva convention restriction. Kill the other team in every way. 50-0.

If LSU spanks their arse they did it with a new QB.
We've got experience here! Mauck, Perriloux, Jefferson?

Step on their throats
And run over the top of them, by the 4th qtr, we should have our way with them.

I don't care about the whole prestige thing. I hate how people prejudge these programs just because they don't have that sexy name with historic prestige. On the gridiron, your name and prestige means Jack shite. All that matters is you play hard nosed football and the better team emerges ?the victor. I'm hyped for this game ?just like I am for every LSU game. I'm ready to watch LSU kick some pass. Rather its Michigan, Iowa, or some community college when you step on that field against us, you are tiger bait.

What a fricking moron the OP is. That's like saying Denver was a bigger brand than anyone else in the NFL when they had tebow. No one gives a shite about AM, they care about Manziel. The national media loves LSU. How many CBS games and espn prime time games did we have this year? Has to be close to tops in the country.
To the people who are saying how shitty we are, STFU. Yea it wasn't a great year, but we're the winningest BCS program this century and we have two BCS titles appearances and two SEC titles under miles. What coach or program would you trade places with in the SEC since miles took over, other than Bama? Jesus Christ just get over the ole miss loss already

1. We have never beaten Iowa in football
2. We have never won the Outback Bowl
3. We owe them from the 2005 game
I have to agree with this guy.
Or we could act like self entitled punks...
We barely lost to Ga in a shootout before our D came together!
We are better than the Ole Piss team that gave us our second loss by 3 pts before our defense could come together!
Bama beat us but we would have certainly won if JC wouldn't have fumbled!
Whatever excuses we try to pull out of our arses, we are a three loss team. The only way to truly cap off this season is to beat down those Hawkeyes SEC style and watch our QB of the future get those top Wide Out recruits excited about wearing Purp and Gold.
If Iowa fans are truly bummed about not being able to play the A+M team that we have beaten the last two years on the field and in recruiting then it's just because they have grown used to bragging about beating us ten years ago and will not be able to do that after they get man handled this year. It was kinda like a feather in their little caps.

Iowa doesn't want to play is because they know they will lose. You honestly think LSU isn't a top 8 or so name brand in the nation? Name 10 bigger schools right now. I haven't even thought about it but id bet there isn't 10

I guess I can sympathize. It's not so much that I think we're too good to play them this year, it's just not a very interesting match-up. There's no history between the programs, and as one poster pointed out, most of us in Louisiana don't even know any Iowa fans to talk shite to.
People can talk it up all they want. I doubt anyone saw this pairing and instantly thought, "now that's a game I want to see".
ETA: Program-wise, Iowa isn't in the same solar system as LSU. I doubt they think we're not good enough. We are still a perenially relevant program that played in three of the last 10 NCGs during a time of unprecedented competition in our division and conference.

School from Texas comes in and is more popular than LSU right out of the gate. People think it's all about Manziel, but time will show that to not be true.
Yeah...okay...you're gonna find out that it is all about that when he's gone. They better find a D really fast or it's not gonna be pretty.
I would probably want to play them too if I was Iowa though because he is exciting and Iowa football is pretty boring with the style they play. LSU can be the same way at times without the old trick plays Les used to run.

They're not even ranked. They shouldnt be bitching.

It is 100% about Manziel.
Could A&M continue to develop their program moving forward and maintain that national recognition? Sure. But that would be as fleeting as LSU's recent success given a "mediocre" 9 win season.
Your take is off base and ignorant.

You are out of your freaking mind if u think A&M and teams from Texas have more of a national appeal than LSU. Perhaps this year due to JM but that is the exception, not the rule. Believe me, Iowa is jacked to play the tigers. There are a few Iowa trash talkers out there but don't kid yourself!!! Iowa has no national appeal and is not even ranked, so who are they to complain about anything. They are counting their blessings to be in a NYD bowl!

Not all Iowa fans care about playing A&M. Most Iowa fans, much like the LSU fans I met at the Cap 1 Bowl, and reasonable, knowledgeable football fans, and don't spend the majority of their time typing ignorance on message boards.
Although, we do have our share that do precisely that.
