First, I'm not happy with how the season played out, but I'm old enough to realize that things aren't as bad as they seem.

This DC hiring thing is a reminder of the pitfalls of thinking you just replace someone so easily. Some of us lived it.

Therefore, wisdom and patience plays a guide for some of us who remember...these two words

Curley Hallman

Btw, I hope we can replace Chavis, but I would have loved to have seen what this defense could have done next year after the growth they experience. Now, we're subject to scheme changes and other unknowns, but that's life in college football.

We know he's better than Hallman. But we also know we could be better with the talent we have.

Stop living in the past.

Louisiana high school football talent is among the best, and has been since the late 90s.. which is a big reason to the turn around of success from then to now.

Most of this talent comes to LSU.

Seriously, quit living in the past and know LSU can actually do better. Not do worse.. than 3-5 losses a season.

I use to be one of those afraid of a new coaching hire, but the way Miles has had his teams perform lately, I truly believe LSU would not do worse, and probably would do wonders just to have a coach who can develop a quarterback.

After this year's performance, I think we're all well versed in 1990's LSU football by now. We've been reminded enough.

We didn't lose Chavis. They let him go. That contract was a take it or leave it hand shake out the door. Whether good or bad i have no idea.

Right now, we can't seem to settle in on a DC. CP could have been a good hire. You won't know about home-run hire for any "real" candidate until they've coached for a season or two.

And I believe we have a coach who can develop a QB but he's just being too restrictive. The reigns certainly need to be loosened. Let the players play on offense at the skilled positions.

It doesn't matter frick what we think. One more season like this year and it won't matter. That program thrives on donations and i can tell you they have tightened up already.

You mean the donors are not all CLM lovers!

If they have significantly, then the fate of the program is already determined. Again, the going rate for a DC or even a HC has gone up for experienced hires.

If you believe you're better than the last guy, you're not going to take half of what he was making. You may take a slight discount, but more than likely, LSU is paying $1-1.3 million for any coordinator and $4 million minimum by the time we hire the next HC if he's a known quantity.

I never thought of it this way. If we lose Miles we might not be able to hire someone better!! Don't you teenagers remember the 90s?!!

I'd rather not, but those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

So we should accept mediocrity and be scared to strive for excellence because of a fear we might not achieve it.

What a loser mentality.

Me too, prior to Chavis departure I pretty much figured we would only lose Collins to early departure on the defensive side of the ball and they would have come into this next season with a nasty streak and the leaders back for the defense. Oh well like you stated "that's life in college football."

Please stop living in the 1990's, we are not the same program we were then. We have moved to the front of the line in the arms race (facilities and resources).

FYI we are not getting our money's worth, Cam and Les are making over $5M per year, are we getting a $5M/year offense?
