Article is very lengthy so you will have to click the link for more details.

quote:

while there will almost always be one dominant half in any two-division college football conference, the imbalance between the SEC West and the SEC East is getting dangerous to the competitive balance of the league. Consider:
•No current SEC East head coach has ever won an SEC title.
•The last SEC East team to win the conference championship game did so in 2008. The last SEC East team not coached by Urban Meyer to take the trophy in Atlanta was Georgia in 2005.
•Since the turn of the century, the SEC West is 11-5 in conference title games.
•In the last seven SEC Championship Games, the SEC West team has won by at least 14 points in all but one of them. The average margin of victory in those seven games has been 22 points.
•It's not just in the championship event that the East is getting paved. After going 7-7 against the West in 2012 -- the first season with a 14-team conference -- and 6-8 in 2013, the SEC East has fallen to 6-22 in regular-season interdivision games over the last two years. Many of the more recent losses have been by large margins.

Meh, it's cyclical. Once Saban retires, it'll even out again. The East was pretty damn dominant in the 90s it seems. shite happens.

Well no shite as an LSU fan.

The East has 5 of the historically 6 best teams in SEC history. Talk about unbalanced.

Although they've had our # recently, I'd hate to not play Alabama every year.

LSU wants this and Bama does not, sooooo it will NEVER EVER Happen. Everything that LSU wants is always voted down due to Joe "whatever you guys want" Alleva's actions at SEC meetings.

Never happen but if that did then they would take UFs spot and they should.

I like the Auburn game too.

This is what it boils down to.

If the league ever expands to 16 teams, things will get shuffled up then anyway. So I see no point in a reorganization now.

Why would you want to give up the yearly game with Bama?

I don't follow the logic here.

That game is the best game of the season.

Yea, they own us right now, but eventually we'll punch back.

So basically put LSU in the same division as all the scrubs?

5 of the 6 traditional SEC powers would be in the same division.

Probably the worst possible divisional alignment possible IMO.

This would be a fair plan and I wouldn't then mind having Florida as our permanent East opponent. The structure now is very unfair to all the West Teams, including Alabama. Just the fact that Kentucky and Vandy are in the same division makes it unfair. However, Bama won't see it that way. They've got their East patsy and their West strength of schedule, so they are set as long as Saban coaches.

I would be for that. Ole Miss isn't a scrub anymore, and A&M can be good if they ever get their shite together

If they plan to drastically reduce our ticket prices because of this, I wouldn't argue too much. The value of a ticket to see Bama or Auburn is much great than the value to see Mizzou & Vandy.
