It's been one fiasco after another since he got here. The academic bankruptcy scare tactic that turned out to be fruitless; The Les Miles debacle; and now if the allegations in Roy King's law suit have any basis, it's time for this guy to go. From the person that's supposed to promote and enhance our university, he's a PR nightmare. I realize bad press is going to get more attention, but what has Alexander done to make LSU better?

I agree. I'm not a huge fan of Alleva, but I think he's received a lot of criticism in the last 6 months that should have been directed at FKA

i'm at crossroads because while he hasn't exactly accomplished anything of note, he inherited a complete dumpster fire that hadn't yet surfaced before he got here.

We're a POS state that desperately needs to shut down obsolete universities, and it's simply out of his hands.

I'd prefer someone with a stem background or someone who came from a peer institution we're aspiring to be, like Ohio State or UGA

eta: i 100% agree that he's a pr nightmare for LSU though

Don't forget the longstanding LSU professor that King fired, despite being recommended to not do so. King and LSU are now being sued by her as well.

quote:

The lawsuit states that in December 2013, Buchanan was told she would not be teaching the following spring semester because students alleged the professor made inappropriate comments during class. The suit goes on to say that Buchanan was told that she would also not be up for promotion to full professor.

"I will go to my grave proud of the job I did at LSU," Buchanan said.

A faculty review committee did not find the allegations warranted Buchanan’s dismissal and only recommended that she be censured. The LSU Board of Supervisors, at the recommendation of Alexander, fired Buchanan in June.

What in the lawsuit brought you to this conclusion that Pres Alexander was behind this?

For starters, he's removed a metric ton of duplication within the LSU System through consolidations of AgCenter, Health Science Centers, etc.

I agree wholeheartedly on the need for more positive PR from his office, however.

You're right that he inherited a shite show from a budgetary standpoint. But if you really think the state of higher ed in Louisiana wasn't clearly in horrible disrepair prior to 2013, you've had your head in the sand.

Both my wife (college statistics professor) and I (university communications coordinator) work in higher ed. And this statement makes absolutely no sense if you're assuming that STEM majors would have a skill set that would make them somehow better able to handle the job.

My co-workers would agree that I shouldn't be fired if I did something wrong, but our CEO would disagree.

Yes. But lacked the academic credentials to command the respect of the faculty.

Not necessarily that but stories like Roy King and another professor that have come up the past year or two. Yes, i know Louisiana's budget crisis for higher education was apparent before his arrival

Here's a hint, your wife probably disagrees with you and thinks your job title is a joke.
