The flautists are hoping to go pro and didn’t want to risk their emboucher. I mean, if someone came up from behind and slapped them on the back while marching, their face could stick like that! Then what? No pro Jethro Tull cover band career for a meaningless parade?

Unlimited upvotes for mentioning Jethro Tull

That’s around $32,000.00 the university saves and that’s a conservative estimate. Not to mention busses for an extra day etc.

If it was really about saving money, why not fly the band in on Monday?

And, to be fair, it does come across as cheap and "small-time" that LSU isn't represented while UCF is.

Massive recruiting opportunity missed

Please explain this one. Can’t wait

He meant band recruiting. While not a "massive opportunity," he does have a point that the current band admin does have a problem with current numbers. It should be a goal to get the band back to 325.

LSU lost money last time they played in the BCS Championship. In New Orleans.

Magic Math? I get that the Fiesta Bowl has additional costs, but there is no way I believe what you post to be even remotely possible concerning a BCS championship game in NOLA. That would require some creative accounting.

On another note...if the band is traveling to the game, then there is no reason for them not to be in this parade. It is poor form imho. Sadly, it is what I have come to expect from this administration.

Their expenses were more than the compensation from the SEC from the bowl payout allotment.

1.6 million people in the Phoenix metro area. Monroe, LA has more people show up for a Christmas Parade.

Fiesta Bowl parade happens every year here. Most people just don't care that much to go. I've never been in the 13 years I've lived here. I've watched on tv maybe twice (including right now)

Because there isn't shite to do in podunk Monroe so a parade is big deal there

ETA: Also your numbers are wayyyy off....there are 4.5 million people in PHX metro area.

Makes sense. Glad that’s what he meant.

I don't know how I will sleep tonight over this egregious decision by the band leaders.

UCF band will be there representing their school.
From what I've been told by other Tiger Band Alums, the UCF band wasn't in the parade either.

We were all PO'ed, but calmed down when the UCF Band was also missing from the parade...........

How much do you think a chartered flight is? it’s some janky parade no one goes to. Some of those bowl parades are walking down empty streets. They’re terrible.

No the bowl DOES NOT pay for everything! Not sure where you got that naive notion but you're absolutely wrong!
