Redshirt junior Danny Etling has prepared as the starter the entire week and has displayed a lot of the qualities every coach wants from his starting quarterback, sources say. Etling possesses a tremendous work ethic and it was on full display this week. One source stated that he "does what he always does," while others kept a keen eye on his development and attitude this week. Etling has spent countless hours in film study, with the team and on his own accord, even more so than normal. The passing game has been "more efficient this week," according to a source. Etling has also been more vocal this week, according to multiple sources, and it seems to have sparked some of his teammates. Many are expecting to see a prepared, confident starter against the Bulldogs on Saturday.

After being suspended in week one, for what was described as a violation of team rules, by a source, redshirt junior Frank Herron returned to action last week, but has struggled with stamina a bit.

quote:

Junior wide receiver Malachi Dupre's struggles early on may call for the coaches to get some of the talented, younger receivers more meaningful reps. D.J. Chark and Drake Davis have stood out, at times, and are expected to have their roles increased accordingly, stated a source. Expect a few more snaps for Chark and Davis this week in three- and four-wide-receiver sets.

quote:

Many of those prospects are starting to make a push for playing time, with defensive tackle Ed Alexander and defensive end Rashard Lawrence leading the way. Linebacker Sci Martin is starting to get more reps and has done well when called upon, according to a source. Alexander has moved his way into a three-way split of time at the nose tackle position

quote:

Travonte Valentine continues to struggle with in-game fatigue, which also contributed to accelerating Alexander's development.

quote:

The Tigers plan to supplement their running game with Guice moving forward, with Fournette's health being a contributing factor. Guice has received extra practice reps this week, according to multiple sources.

Fournette is getting healthy and will most likely be full go
quote:

Derrius Guice will return to the starter on kickoffs, according to a source. Donte Jackson continues to see some practice reps, but LSU really likes what Guice brings to the table. "Guice just goes, whereas No. 1 (Donte Jackson) is looking for where he can run and where he is going to get hit.

All seems like great news outside of Valentine fatigue issues. Maybe being spelled more by Alexander will make him more effective on the plays he is in. I love when he's full speed. I honestly wouldn't mind giving Guice the start and holding LF out unless we need him.

I expected Valentine to have conditioning issues. It's hard not playing football for a while and then getting put into the heat of the moment. I liked what I saw from Edwin last game and he should give us some depth and let V rest

I'd still like to see Donte get more reps at KR and especially PR. I know White returned a PR for a TD this past week but running backwards for 20 yards isn't going to work every week, even if it is sort of a last grasp at points before half like that was.

Our heads would explode in shock that passing is an actual reality in our offense

Is it just me, but Guice reminds me of Spencer Ware a bit, just in the sense that their freshman years they were pretty elusive and quick, next season, still quick, but more bulk and just running people over?
