This might get a little TL;DR, but whatever. I was there. 2014 Ole Miss...when we beat the shite out of Bo Wallace, and knocked off the #3 team in the country the night after Les's mom passed away. Last night was incredible. Such feels. Much wow.

First of all, Les is unequivocally the man. Say what you want about the guy. He makes decisions sometimes that make me want to bash my head through a wall. Not last night. That was his night. To come out there and handle your business after everything that happened the previous 24 hours. What a coach and what a role model. Hearing the players talk about it after the game really said it all.

Secondly, rushing the field. I'm in grad school at LSU. I've never rushed the field before. I never really had an opinion on it before last night, but we were out there. I was sitting on the visitor's north 30ish about 8 rows up. At the end, we saw the students piling down towards the field. I looked at my roommate and I was like holy shite...they're gonna rush the field. We gotta go. So we hopped the barricade, LF7 spin moved Fess security, and rushed the field. Why? Because it was awesome. The back end of my Tiger fandom has been an era of Tiger fans who largely only care about winning national championships and beating Alabama. Fans that empty out of the greatest place to play and see football in the world at halftime during close games. I've left early. I've yelled at my TV and thought I could coach better than Les. I've been guilty of losing sight of the importance of other games in the season besides Alabama. Not anymore. Last night, it all came back. I rushed the field because last night reminded me why I'll be an LSU fan for the rest of my life. I'm all about national championships, perfect seasons, completely dominating teams, etc. But to see a young, doubted team come out there and fight like hell for four quarters for themselves, their coach, and their fans. Hard nosed, smash mouth SEC football. Buga's facemask getting ripped off. I mean come on. That's what it's all about. It wasn't just students. I stopped two dads taking pictures of their sons and told em to get in the photo so they could have a picture of both of them on the field that night we beat Ole Miss in 2014. That's the kind of stuff I remember about my old man when I was a kid. I've seen a lot of posts re: rushing the field and how we should act like we've been there before. Look, maybe we have. I know this team hasn't, but maybe as a fan base we have. We've won titles - SEC and BCS - and totally rocked badass teams. But last night felt to me like I hadn't been there in a very long time. It was awesome. One of my greatest memories as an LSU fan.

Thirdly, Death Valley and the fans. Hell yes. There wasn't an empty seat in the place. Traffic was awful after the game and nobody gave a shite. Tiger Stadium was absolutely rocking the entire game. The obnoxious roided out OM fan sitting next to me kept commenting on how insane the noise was. I was proud.

Fourth, the team. We look good and the future looks awesome. Mistakes were made, but holy shite at the resilience of those kids. I have more detailed thoughts on the team too, but this post is long enough.

Those of yall that were there last night - glad yall got to experience that with me. My parents had the chance to go and didn't. HAH. Anyways, .

I've always wondered what it must of felt like in 1958 in Tiger Stadium during our 7-3 win. I can't imagine it could be any better than last night. Thanks Tiger Fans for last night.

Yeah what was that about? It was cool to see a different halftime show. They did pretty well.

This is happiest I've been the morning after a football game since I can remember.

LSU is so great besides the dorky commercials

Fixed that, 58 was 14-0
Yes I agree on all and was biggest win since USCe 12 I believe. I admit was cursing the staff that 3rd Qtr running up the middle every play at the north end but realize now what they were doing pounding and wearing down the OM D to perfection like a Rocky movie.
Rush the field, no not for me, though I understand the students excited for a big win in several years as said and wanted to celebrate but I could not over #3 and not any long time l streak so let them celebrate and bring on Gumps!

Awesome post. Did read again. You just summed up the realization that I wish all LSU fans could come to. Championships are great. I've been lucky enough to watch us win 2 national championships in person. It is a lot if fun to beat Bama too. I witnessed live us coming back to beat them in Tuscaloosa in 2005, 2007, and 2011. But LSU football is more than that.

It's 3 months of the year when an an entire state can shut down things for 3-4 hours a week to rally around their team. It's even more special those 7-8 times a year that we can get together to watch our team in Tiger Stadium, one of the best sporting venues in the world. There are so many sporting fans throughout the country that would give anything to have what we have in terms of success and overall gameday experience. I just wish all Tiger fans could appreciate that.

I know it's much easier to appreciate this in a game like last night, but there is no reason the type of support and effort given last night can't happen every home game. When Death Valley is at its best, so are the Tigers... Period. The last 15 years of LSU football have been the best in its history, and we have been lucky to be a part of that. But I honestly believe the best is yet to come as evident by the progression of these young men over the last 3 weeks. Last night was awesome but it's just the beginning. Let's do it again in two weeks.

I've also been fortunate enough to see the Tigers beat Bama. I was also in the student section when Yeldon ran into the end zone to effectively beat us. That fourth quarter was one of the loudest and quietest nights I've ever heard in Death Valley. It sucked.

This team is going places. Most importantly, they're really defining their identity as a team. You can hear it in the way the players talking about each other and talk about the coaches. I am beyond excited to see what's coming for them....and us.

Great post. I wish all of the sportswriters in the state would post it in the local papers.

... bluemoons , your post kinda teared me up a little ... but, yes, the game was that good. Maybe not the greatest in x's and o's , or whatever , but the drama , the intensity , the electricity ,the crowd, the beauty of the day , homecoming , the emotional situation with CLM - I was just awestruck at the whole thing . Damn, what a game! And by gawd , we outplayed them , controlled the line of scrimmage , shoulda had another 17 points on the board , easily ... but I'm fine with the way it came out ! Just wow ...

... Tigers , we PROUD OF Ya !
