BYU gets to shake off some rust but there's also a chance someone gets injured.

Doesn't matter, young guys are going to ball out for 3.5 quarters. Coach O will pump the brakes around the 7minute mark of 4th quarter

Good for us I think. We get film on BYU. They don't get film on us.

Historically speaking, most teams improve the most the week between the 1st and 2nd games.

Unfortunately, advantage BYU....

Remember when LSU opened in Blacksburg against VaTech, LSU's coaching staff was furious because it was originally scheduled as the opener for both teams. VaTech after the agreement was able to schedue a cupcake the week before...

Just saying...

The team with the extra game always has an advantage.

When LSU arranges to play our first game against a reasonably big opponent we need to include a stiff financial penalty if either team schedules another game before it.

You're kidding right? BYU can do as they please. If LSU wants to prevent that, they agree to play as early as possible and not give the opponent the opportunity to play before.

Always and advantage having a game in hand.

We play a lot of big schools in early games like Wisconsin and Oregon. It would suck to lose one of those because the other team got an extra game in. The clause should just be a standard entry in all the contracts. It would prevent issues like the previously mentioned game with Va Tech.

...I'm not all that worried about BYU.

Think BYU has a clear advantage.

Some of it has to do with coaching and roster changes but I'm pretty anxious for kickoff.

The rant will be melting a bit if it is tight going into the 4th.

I don't see LSU losing this game but am unsure what to expect to be honest.

Well if Mangum gets hurt I would say LSU. I would say LSU anyway but anytime you play you run a risk of injury so what if BYU has a couple key injuries?

Nah but of course it gives them an advantage because they can work the kinks out. What they don't know is just how much different this game will be from their previous.

The LSU D is going to give BYU nightmares man. We will take away the run first, make them one dimensional, then sick the pass rushing dogs on them, while we find our rythme on offense.

For sure. No arguments about that at all.

I just disagree with you man. Monetary penalties don't belong in an "amateur" sport when it comes to a schedule. I ain't worried about BYU either.

Can't wait to finally see an OC do what ever it takes to adjust to a defense and score freakn TDs instead of FGs. This offense is going to be fun but if anyone can hold this offense to a low score it's freakn 5th year seniors that don't react to any little moment so we'll just have to see.

Might not have to get all tricky on them just play them straight up and whip them at the POA. Even BYU being a veteran team will have trouble with all our moving parts. It's just hard to deal with.

I'm pretty damn certain they won't have an answer for someone like Guice, Moreau, Chark, Drake, Gage, CEH, and Moore. Then LSU has tons more that these guys have never even heard of like Washington, Ducre, Dillon, and now Stevens!

Lots of freakn weapons LSU can now deploy and have BYU running all around trying to stop these athletes, some are literal track stars with pads on. I say bring Jacksons arse from the defense to play both sides like Michigan did with Peppers.

You seriously don't get how much money there is in this 'amateur' sport? Sure the kids don't get dollars in dollar form, but it's a big buck system no less. That's why millions of dollars are given to the cupcake teams we play so we can put them on the schedule. It's not at all outside the realm to put stipulations and fines on a game contract.

To OP's question, I think advantage is always to the team who started their season a week ahead. Maybe we should do the same just to work the kinks out ourselves.

Are u serious, have u looked at there schedule? After playing us they will be beat up. Could easily start 1 and 6 or 7.

I say this everytime we play teams like this early, lose and it is a very long season, close game and its a wakeup call, blow out and smile, good season on the way
