But was also VERY young! Most of the players playing in that game were key players on the NC team in 2003!

Yeah but due to life's cruel, soul-crushing monotony, not football.

That team was 5-3 and finished with the same record as Les Miles did this year. That team needed two fourth down conversions on the last drive of the Kentucky game to avoid losing that game as well.

The reason that team went to the SEC title game was that the rest of the SEC West collapsed that year and LSU won the tie breaker.

So if 5-3 aint good enough for Miles...then 5-3 aint good enough for Saban.

I was there. Lsu simply wanted it that particular night. Tennessee had some talent, but outplayed them. A perfect example was the Josh Reed 3rd down catch for a 1st down in the 4th quarter. That was completely ridiculous.

I'm watching this MNF game wondering if Jason Witten still thinks about that night against LSU.

Why? We looked fairly inept on offense most of the game. Gave up big plays and a lot of yards on defense . Made big game winning plays against a Chavis defense. What's different?

That is not true.
That was a Saban team.
Saban teams never lost any games.
Saban teams never committed any infractions.
Saban teams were always perfect in every way.

Yeah, all those coaches that we make fun of? The same DC that we ran over a few times? The same Derek Dooley that out- screwed up our hated coach in a head to head? The same Mike Heywood who is doing what right now?

You guys are intellectually dishonest and inferior if you think it's reasonable to compare that 8-3 LSU team with this one given the circumstances.

Agree. That was a much weaker SEC west back then.

That team won the SEC with a young team. This team did not come close to winning the SEC. Case closed.

I can see your point in other aspects of the argument, but you sound like a moron downplaying the accomplishments of that year just to save face for this disappointing year
