Great coach for many years. Relevant in SEC and nationally. Then the game seemed to pass him by. 18-18 conference record his last 6 years and he really began to divide the fan base. He really had no answers. He was actually kept around too long. At some point it's time for even a historically successful coach to move on. It's that time.

Except the whole Miles has as many top 5 finishes as Mac, saban, and Dietzel combined. Yeah just alike.

And how many conference titles did Mac have?

They both run the same offense. Miles is just 35 years behind progress.

God I hope the same doesn't happen when we let Les go, I can't handle the 90's LSU football again!

One bad coaching hire by Aleva and it will take a decade to recover

So by your logic Mack Brown should still be coaching Texas.

Honestly, I think Coach Mac tried his heart out...just didnt work...seemed like Coach Mac had a QB curse, that was out of his control.

Everything going on with the QB situation now is under Miles control....Also, Coach Mac never lived in Fantasy Land

I was just telling my 15 year old son about this, including the story about the"Help Mac Pack " bumper stickers on so many cars. He said we should make some for Les.

And I didn't say Mac was as successful as Miles. Mac never won a national title. That wasn't the point. I said the current situation is the same.

Mack also had a big dip in recruiting and loss of institutional control.

No its not. Our last 5 years have a better win loss record than Saban's tenure at lsu. We have finished top 16 4 of 5 years. Its time for change but this isnt like the end of macs tenure. My god.

Eta: downvote all you. You must not like FACTS.

Alleva will not be in charge of this hire.

He may be the public spokesman and figure head of LSU, but this will all be done by TAF and Power Brokers.......

How do you know this? They werent behind the last 2 hires. Were they.

We hired Saban because our AD was his boy. And Skip went cheap on miles.

I was around for Mac. Its two different eras in LSU, and college football. LSU is light years ahead of where they were during Mac's stay in terms of facilities and money committed to the program (in terms of how LSU ranks to other programs; not in terms of pure dollars). Its time for Miles to go, just like it was time for Mac to go.

Precisely why he should not be allowed to make the next hire.

He's not trustworthy and LSU has too much riding on the next hire.
